This seems good. Maybe more if Flash/Indy both flop (which tracking is currently suggesting).

$15M domestic Tuesday :jonnycat:

Spiderman was my favorite as a kid i used to have a poster on my ceiling in my childhood bedroom so im so happy to see marvel reinventing him with multiple reboots and films. Kids love the boy from queens :clap3:

The holds have been amazing. Hopefully $400M domestic is going to happen. That would be bigger than the first film’s entire WW gross :jonny:

It is falling a little behind Toy Story 3 (on first Monday and first Tuesday) which did 415M but opened with 110M (10M less than Spider Verse).

It seems to be approaching 400M maybe slightly above or slightly below can't say much so far.

Slightly overrated (as most superhero movies tend to be) but good overall. The first half dragged, and things only got interesting once they got to the

Spoiler

Spider-verse headquarters.

Some minor plot holes:

  • If Miles was never meant to be Spiderman, why must his dad die in his world?
  • If a character glitches without the watch when in another world, how did Gwen go to his school for a whole week in the first movie without glitching?
  •  In the end, when Miles tells his Mom from the other world the truth, how did she not react to his sudden hairstyle change from the Miles of that world? (minor but still annoyed me, lol)

I feel like they deliberately dragged the first hour as they planned for this to be a two-part release and needed more juice to justify splitting the movie into two.

Spoiler

-that’s quite clearly the answer that’s gonna be revealed and solved in the third movie

-there was glitching in the first movie, not as frequent as this but I imagine that a multidimensional being tearing apart the fabric of space and time and a canon event being thwarted will contribute to exacerbated glitching

-in that world a Spider-Man doesn’t exist. Like never happened. It’s essentially a Gotham without Batman. A New York without Spider-Man. She doesn’t even know what a Spider-Man is because that’s not the mom from the world he was raised. That’s the mom from the world where the earth 42 spider that bit him originally came from. In Earth 42 Spider-Man never happened, Miles’ dad died and Miles becomes the Prowler.

Outstanding movie! I did not anticipate a cliffhanger to be continued ending, but I am very excited for the next one and will probably go again!

It was good. For all the hype and high ratings it’s gotten I was expecting more? But still great nonetheless.

Def perched for the 3rd installment as it left off on such a big cliffhanger.

I don't know how people did not see the To Be Continues coming. wbk for years that it will be a 2 parter.

MTE, especially the first point.

The movie was good, but the first one outsold.

Spoiler

Didn't like the cliffhanger, felt really anti-climatic.

Saw it and enjoyed it a lot, even if the ending did feel anticlimactic, in my opinion.

‘SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE’ is set to release on digital platforms on July 18

Too soon :biblio:.

Christopher Miller: "#SpiderVerse won’t release digitally until August at the earliest"

Thank God!

Digital release doesn’t really affect a movie’s box office run as much as people think but at the same time there’s no reason to rush it either.

A Netflix release should happen a few months later (October/November) to build up hype for Beyond the Spider-Verse.

I was also confused about the first two points, but as for the third:

Spoiler

She literally says, "Miles, what did you do to your hair?" when she walks in the room nnnn. I was confused as to why she said that, but obviously it made sense a few minutes later.

That said, the bigger plot hole for that scene was the fact that Miles web-slinged all over NY to get back to his apartment and never realized he was in the wrong universe :rip: When he goes onto his roof with his uncle, he looks around and sees NY is in really bad shape (cause there's no Spider-man in this universe), but he didn't notice any of that mayhem during his commute home??? It doesn't add up.

Spoiler

Adrenaline is pumping, he had one plan to get home to save his dad, there’s no way even the most adapated and trained mind is gonna recognize something different about a relatively similar Brooklyn (his regular Brooklyn is also pretty chaotic and filled with crime mind you) when they have tunnel vision (saving their dad from an interdimensional being that can show up at any moment). He thought the go home machine would send him to his universe not the universe where the spider that hit him came from which adds to tunnel vision and surprise. It’s not a plot hole at all

Most people don’t keep up with that, and they dropped the Part 1 before promotion.
