Yeah I feel critics are harsher now, although I do think marvel movies don’t  have a sense of direction and other problems in phase 4/5, they always had problems that were overlooked in the endgame era. Even Quantumania wasn’t horrible it was just generic.

My feels exactly. Antman was fine, just disappointing.

The Marvels getting people back into the MCU! Everything always compiles the reviews from all major outlets

Biggest twitter Stan accounts are saying it, not me🤭

I’m so excited to see this tomorrow with my nephew! I’ve watched Ms. Marvel but I haven’t watched Secret Invasion yet, so I hope that doesn’t impact my experience much.

Probably suffers from no promotions with the strike, no real visibility of Larson's character post-Captain Marvel (i dont remember seeing her more than 10 minutes in any subsequent films or TV shows), no naming it Captain Marvel 2, introducing characters in TV shows and finally a strike of really boring movies since pandemic started (dont tell me that BW was good, only Shang-Shi was decent but really forgettable).

A good pause would help Marvel.

Idc they should still do some quick interviews now that the strike's over. it won't make any difference, but I wanna see all 3 of them together

I wanted to like this movie so much but it was so bad :gaycat6:

It was a fine movie. Kamala's actress stole the spotlight in every single scene she was in! Good chemistry between the 3 protagonists and the post credits scenes ATE

With this and Guardians 3, it seems Marvel finally finding the balance of Fun and action again.

Spoiler

And actually delivering what fans been asking for Marvel to start doing; Have the Heroes start socializing and working together again. It’s short and right to the Entertainment. And the best Post credit Scene of the last phase. :wanda: Like wtf! Finally some connectivity.
The chemistry, Action Sequences & Visuals are way better! We finally out of the pandemic era Bad CGI territory. Tho the villain is another generic marvel baddie. This movie delivers on every other front tho. And really is the best marvel has done with its female hero’s since Wanda. Even as a fan I was worried since everyone online wanted this to fail because is a Women Avengers team up film. But after watching it. The complaints really are just about the modern MCU and not the actual film😆 I mean it’s definitely a comic book movie, but the extremes I’ve seen online critics comparing this to Ai trash😆 if you actually watch it, it’s under 2 hours of straight enjoyment. Last time I let the internet worry me about a film they ain’t see. 8.5/10 on first viewing. I feel this will have a lot of replay value in the same vein as Thor Ragnorok or Guardians movies.  I really do think the over saturation of comic stuff has turn audiences away. Cuz if this dropped 2 years ago, everyone would agree it’s what a CM sequel should be.

Sorry, I loved this movie. It was so much fun. The comedy worked minus 1 part but they moved on quickly so I forgave it.

the end credits were amazing.

this movie deserves at least in the high 70% on rotten tomatoes.

you can’t tell me black widow is 20% better than this?!

I’m such a ***** for marvel :emofish:

Spoiler

I didn’t expect to actually like the movie. The first action sequence gave me chills “we’re ******* back”. I loved how they played with the characters. The Memory scene was amazing. And the fan service on the two last scenes WOW.

So, were Valkyrie and Carol a thing or something? I didn’t read any leaks at all.

Ok, this was so, so good! I had a damn blast! I love Carol and Monica so much. This movie is getting sh*t on way too harshly.

Some of the best action the MCU has had in SO long. I can't wait to see it again.

This movie had my friend who is burnout on MCU stuff blown away. Gagged and entertained the Whole time. He just thought it was super fast paced. And he cringe at the Alanna song.

8.5 out of 10

now my personal review/Spoiler thoughts.

Great

Spoiler

Monica’s action sequences :WAP: I was not expecting them to turn up that hard in action. Wtf! I also loved how they showed how versatile Monica’s power set is. She did a lot in just a hour of fighting. The VFX also were clean and crisp.

The Comedy was a perfect amount. Only one major cringe scene was the singing. But it only last 2 minutes. Good idea for them to scrap the full thing, cuz it would have slowed momentum of the 2nd act. Everyone in my theater loved Kamala. Not enough praises can be said for her performance. An instant fan favorite and I hope more people watch her show now. Her family 😆 perfect comedic timing. Her brother specifically.

The Chemistry is exactly what I was hoping for. The first major Team up film post endgame, and it delivers. Feels like a new MCU family is born. The memory scene when they wear the Skrull headsets and have flashbacks to their respective projects was great too. And I hope future multiverse films have small clips like that. Multiverse of madness should have used Wandavision scenes for example.

last truly great thing the movie does, is its hopeful tone. Going in even I was a bit stressed and worried. But actually seeing it, you get a positive outlook for the future of Marvel. It achieves Fun without trying to be goofy every 5 seconds. It’s a natural comedy. And that leads us to the Finale scene with Kate Bishop🤯 and having an X-Men. Perfect way to leave the theater. Such a great movie experience

Good

Spoiler

I was going in assuming the flerken were just cute gimmicks. And they technically were but it works. That ship scene, and having them be crucial to getting people off the ship was very predictable . Yet still fun to watch.

The fast paced story was good for me. But I can see why critics would think it’s like a TikTok MCU film. It is very rapid, but I think it’s for the best. The first captain marvel movie was a good film but the formula of old MCU movies was very evident back then. Now it’s less of the old MCU formula and just straight to the point. We know Dar Ben wants resources to bring back to gala. We know the engagement works, and the power sets of each hero. All this is very easy to understand and straightforward that even family’s and kids can understand basic quantum physics, refugees, and resources scarcity. It’s very simplified but works. It’s very comicbooky, but it’s acceptable because the film is just genuinely interesting and fun to watch. Also

Fury actually feels like himself again. Guess Secret invasion was a fluke. Cuz Sam Jackson was back *****

Bad

Spoiler

All that said. It does have cringe dialogue. And the singing sequence is a bit much. But I actually thought Brie sounded Great! . Thankfully it’s less than 2 minutes, and an insane action sequence is right after it.

also the villain is a typical boring character and performance. The motive makes sense, it’s just the acting and threat was meh. Also when they are in that planet full of wheat or whatever. It feels like it’s missing scenes cuz Brie’s felt like

she was reacting to another scene. Maybe that’s just me.

8.5/10 for me critically. As a Stan tho this is a 10/10. Idc bite me🤭

For those who watched it, how much is it necessary to watch Ms. Marvel in advance? I want to watch the movie tomorrow but I haven't seen the show yet.

Posted (edited)

I’m not reading any of the posts in here just yet as I’m seeing this later today and I don’t want to see any reviews before then, but I’ll definitely post my thoughts after I’ve seen it.

I finished rewatching Ms. Marvel last night and I think that’s such an enjoyable show. The trailers didn’t do it any justice as it’s so much better than how it was promoted. It gave me such Spider-Man vibes.

They do a fine job doing a quick explanation of who she is, you’d be fine.
