My only complain is... Where is that leading to? Will they join the other groups at some point? How will they go from Russia to Hawkins again? Maybe there is a portal to the Upside-Down in that russian base but idk. Edited May 29, 2022 by Nicholai
Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Yeah, I dont get the complains about Russia's storyline. It was entertaining. I actually found California's storyline kinda uneventful bar a few scenes
Arcadius Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Vol 1. was all around really specifically the two episodes everyone keeps talking about. I really need to go back and just re-watch the previous seasons since I haven't watched them since forever.
storminthedark Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Just finished Vol 1, easily the best season along with S1 for me. Give Sadie her Emmy for “Dear Billy” stat The Russia storyline worked for me, Hopper’s monologue about Vietnam and feeling like he was the curse was beautiful. The only wonky part for me in the season was Jonathan/Steve/Nancy. It felt like they didn’t really know what to with Jonathan anymore and going back to Steve & Nancy felt a bit like character regression, but not in an intentional way. I never put together the fact that Spoiler Number 1 was also Victor Creel’s son, I suspected that #1 was the warden guy and evil but that was such a clever twist. Very well executed.

The question is why, what, and how.
shark_heather Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Just watched the 1st episode Im blown away What a masterpiece for a series , really cannot be compared with ANYTHING The nightmare on elm street vibes on the horror scenes are INSANELY good made
Aiya Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Spoiler this and El isn’t even my favourite character but this is sad. Mike maybe a bit useless and Annoying this season but besides him and Max no one in this group really cares about her
Shelter Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 The end of ep 4 had me shook. The flashback scenes, the music. Everything about it was perfect.

In season 1, El could barely talk and so she mostly was just there to protect the group. In season 2, she was separated from the group basically the entire season. In season 3, she broke up with Mike and spent all her time with Max basically. So (aside from Joyce and Hopper) Max and Mike having the tightest relationship with El and having the most sentimentality towards her makes sense to me.

They also kicked the horror aspect like a few hundred notch. Hide contents Those scenes with Fred, Chrissy and the reveal with Max legit made me watch it on mute. The clock chimes in the mansion and the bone cracks were traumatising I agree with this, although I did like the Russian plotline in episode 7, but the rest I was kinda zoning out. Poor Cali storyline people though although I did think it was fun seeing Suzie/her crazy house, what was even going on there
Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Ok just watched the finale and I'm shook insane. And I have a theory about one character's future death Spoiler First of all I knew Number 1 was up to something and I knew he was the one who killed all the kids but WHEW he was Victor's child and ALSO Vecna?? I'm shook I'm kinda depressed cause they are SO going to kill Steve in the last two episodes The are tons of clues out there. The whole Nancy/Steve thing is leading to him sacrificing himself to save her. Eddie saying him to get her back, the bites, the fact he's the one still stuck in the Upside Down with Nancy.... **** He's the perfect character to kill off as a shocking death, he's a fan fave, good guy + not essential to the storyline Also it's obvious Nancy and Jonathan will reunite in the end and live their happy ending together, they made 3 whole season about this couple, they are clearly end game. That's why Nancy and Steve getting closer is leading to nothing but his death imo
Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Also Spoiler I can't at that Barb ***** still pulling a 'surprise *****' moment to this day Episode 7 was a whole ass movie, they did that. The demogorgon killing those men was insane whew I have no idea what's gonna happen to Will, he literally had 0 screentime in the final episode. There's no way he has something to do with Vecna based on what we saw, but something must be happening The fact the Upside Down was stuck to the day he got possessed? Idk I think Steve is gonna be the death of the s04 finale while either Will or Eleven will die at the very end? I just found out there's gonna be a final season 5 lol I dont see the other kids dying at all, same for Hopper, Joyce, Nancy etc.
Sadie Saxton Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I agree with the crowd saying this is the best season with S1. S3 was my least favorite so far, so I’m glad they could pick it back up. It feels like this season is a lot more on the horror side which isn’t what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it Spoiler As far as the story line goes, I also agree the Russia story has been tough to sit through. But the very last episode finally got it interesting. Max getting some time to shine has been nice since she’s become one of my favorite characters. And Sadie’s acting also I’m a little over the Nancy/Johnathan/Steve storyline. Kind of feels like a back track for the characters, and also very one sided since Johnathan hasn’t been there for any of it and idk if it’s the thread title I saw on here the other day. But I am a little convinced that Will is gay now
Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I'm pretty sure they implied Will was gay last season tho. I have no idea how that is gonna matter tho people will be dying and he's gonna be "hey, I'm in love with Mike' ? Lol Btw this season was fantastic, lowkey perfect. So well written, darker than the previous seasons which I kinda missed in season 2 and 3. They way the made these long ass episodes work is crazy.

Spoiler Yeah, I get your point but Steve saying: *everything was easier when we had that girl with super powers* was kinda rude
Aiya Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Spoiler I feel like El won’t beat vecna, he will come back to torture her and her loved ones. Mike/ Hopper/Joyce to see her suffer.
Aiya Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Spoiler Rumor has it Max still has a great chance of dying, IDK my guts tell me someone important gonna die at the end off season 4

Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Spoiler Max dying after episode 4 would make no sense pls Poor girl went through a lot, survived for a second just to die a couple episodes later? Nah. They already used the flashback scenes and everything. Her act is most likely over but I'm sure she's gonna have a happy ending These characters who recently faced death like Max and Hopper are not dying. If they wanted one of the kids dead Max would have died in episode 4. They probably dont want to go too dark. If anything Will/Eleven will sacrifice at the very end The characters I could see dying now are Steve, Robin, Eddie, Nancy...idk But Steve has like everything for the big emotional death: been there since season 1, the good guy, no real love interest + all the set up in the last episode
Godly Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 (edited) Yeah Steve is doomed, and I'm actually kinda mad at how obvious it looks like The writing is very much on the wall, he makes the most sense as a candidate for the "big" death that was always going to happen this season: really beloved character that can have a heroic and heartbreaking death and that will raise the stakes for the final season, while also not being one of the core kids/OG main characters. I'll be happy to be proven wrong but I'm not optimistic at all, I just hope the element of shock and danger won't end there since they've made it very predictable. If I'm right, I'm not ready for Dustin's reaction About the season as a whole, the production values are out of this world and every season feels more epic than the one before, starting from "Dear Billy" specifically 'til the end it was arguably the show at its peak. The main duds here were the Russia and California stuff: Murray came dangerously close to becoming a parody of himself and even though by the time his escape plan fails his storyline improved by a lot, Hopper's presence still didn't feel needed which reinforces the idea that maybe he should've just died at the end of S3, but I'll wait to see what he serves in the last episodes; the start of the season in Califronia was weird to say the least, Finn and Noah were acting as if they'd rather been anywhere else than on set, Jonathan might as well have been written off the show if this is the material he's gonna get from now on and El's bullying storyline felt random and over the top and it didn't even amount to anything substantial, so... Also, kinda unpopular opinion but I wasn't really in love with Vecna as a villain and Eleven's whole storyline culminating with the reveal at the end of episode 7 was great but also something that feels overdone and that you could have seen coming from a mile. Still, I'm being nitpciky because the reveal and everything leading up to it were pitch perfect and overall the season might be the best one yet even with these small issues. Can't wait for July 1 Edited May 29, 2022 by Godly
808s Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Wait this is NOT the final season? Why did I thought it was kdfjls
Folklore89sm Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I just finished episode 4 (the ending was spine-chillingly incredible). I have mixed feelings on the season so far. Overall the season feels a bit too unlike ST for me. The already swollen cast from last season has been expanded further for some reason. The California story so far hasn’t been good at all and I’m a bit bored with the Hopper story right now. I’m enjoying some of the Hawkins stuff a lot and Max is the best character rn. I like Robin, Dustin and Steve a lot too. Nancy is pissing me off. Mike and Will are useless. Noah and Finn are honestly giving pretty bad performances (Will reminds me of that gay Pinocchio from that movie trailer that went viral on Tiktok last year). Those two characters honestly feel like a huge liability and they’re dragging the show down. I wouldn’t miss either of them. The verdict is still out on Eleven for me but so far Max is the runaway star.

Starkboy Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Oh and Lucas is as boring and useless as Mike btw. He's so useless they would never kill him dd
