Imagine how I hard I had to no-life this game because I wanted to know the story

I got fired a week before it came out so it was perfect timing for me.

I hope you're doing okay! I know firsthand rough losing your job can be. I'm glad you had something to distract you.

Not even remotely related, but the day FFXV came out, I had to put my dog to sleep, and I was so thankful to have something to really focus on. :chick3: (Probably why I have more fond memories of the game than most others)

Turned off motion blur and the player follow immediately and now it's perfect :jonny:

I’m not surprised the side quests are getting criticized as they are on the basic side, but I’m really enjoying them. They’re written well and add nice world building. I also appreciate them being simple and relaxing with nice background music in between the spectacle of everything else. And I do think they’re still memorable regardless.

The one in the Royal Meadow where you help the little girl find her pet, and that “pet” ends up being a Bearer is going to stick with me. Quest was super simple but the twist definitely caught me off guard.

I was annoyed with them at first but really fit in well with the story tbh

I wanted to be Jill so bad at the beach scene in Ash with Clive. The jealousy I felt :jonny5:

Oh, bisexuals were EATING during that campfire scene

Spoiler

What a beautiful moment! I loved it so much, and I’m glad Jill didn’t have to die for Clive to get Shiva’s powers.

And Clive’s ass again? We are so lucky!! The goosebumps and leg hair details should not have been that hot. The developers were giving the gays everything we wanted!

Whats your fav combo?

Mine atm is

Spoiler

Shiva with Lightning Rod and Aerial Blast basically for achieving Staggering quickly (im basically trying to freeze the enemy constantly and LR + AB are just a wonderful combo anyway

Bahamut with Satellite and Judgement Bolt -> Satellite helps to add to stagger effects while charging Wings of Light and right before the staggering kicks in, I switch to offensive power with Bahamuts Wings of Light + Judgement Bolt

Titan/Odin with Gigaflare and Earthen Fury basically for maximum Damage Output during Stagger

I am trying to get as many trophy as possible before doing the final(?) Quest so that the last one would be when I replay the game during Xmas season but this is taking me so damn long that I just wanna finish the story. It amazes me how many people already Platinum'd the game in just 2 weeks (or less!) :deadbanana4:

Thank you

I'm so sorry to hear that :weeps: took me two years to get over my childhood cat passing away. Pets are so pure  :weeps:

Clive's life hit too close to heart for me, this game is truly one of a kind :heart2:

Wait… I haven’t looked up the hidden trophies yet, so am I really going to have to play the game again if I want to platinum it? :chick3:

I just got to the part

Spoiler

where you finally defeat titan

and holy **** this is quite possibly one of the most boring games I've ever played. It feels sacrilegious saying it as a long time final fantasy fan but god I just want to be done with this.

They should have made this a spin-off and had team ninja from strangers of paradise make 16. :emofish:

Finished the game.

Spoiler

Absolutely loved the final boss fight. Very emotional, but so many questions left unanswered.

Although I appreciated that they made the game being more linear to compliment the story-telling, I just wished we got to explore the major kingdoms, with shops, mini games inns and all.

While the story took a turn for a more mature theme, it's still "Final Fantasy" at its core. There are times where, even though the game's as linear as it gets, it still suffered from pacing. Side quests should've definitely been trimmed down, with some of the more important side quests being part of the main quest.

Now with gameplay, definitely better than FFXVI. Although sometimes I felt it's too easy. Status ailments and elemental strength and weaknesses should've also been implemented for a more complex gameplay. Torgal should've automatically do his attacks instead of the player commanding him. Party members could've at least speak more often when you partner with them rather than being mute standing there or fighting alongside you. I like how ability points are refundable, makes the gameplay more fun experimenting different builds, future FF games should take note. Speaking of taking notes, might as well add ATL permanently too in the future games, a very appreciated addition to the game.

The characters. There's are a lot of characters I like, even the side characters, and those that I don't. Highlights are Clive, Cid, Gav, Martha, Byron,Anabella and of course, my most favorite FF character to date, Dion (sorry Lightning, you've been rihplaced). Extremely disappointed at some (Barnabas, Jill :noparty:, Hugo, Benedikta)

9/10. Joined the ranks of FF6, FF9 and FF8.

Spoiler

That final moment between Joshua and Clive made me cry. As an older brother to a younger sister, I could deeply relate to Clives emotions. That was brilliantly delivered. The endfight was good, but overall not too difficult. Out of curiosity, I decided to start a New Game+ in Final Fantasy mode, and Jill definitely put up a bigger fight. Though I find it odd to start the game with all Eikons already, I do appreciate the idea of the enemies being more difficult. I'll start replaying the game again at one point, though im now more intrigued to start a completely new game.

Would you guys recommend Final Fantasy XII-Remake?

Or shall I rather go for Zeldas Breath of the Wild?

@Kristie Kuwa They are two completely different games. Zodiac Age is a classic turn-based RPG, quintessential Final Fantasy IMO. I'm itching to buy it for my switch and play it again, last time I didn't get to finish it on my PS1.

But the game is from 2012. (If you're talking about Zodiac Age, it's a remaster, not a remake)

The remake is for FF VII and if you haven't played the original, go and buy it, immediately.

If you are interested in a contemporary game just go for BOTW.

Just upgraded my ps4 membership so I can play FFVII with enhanced graphics on my ps5 and judging from my first impression, it was the eight thing to do. The graphics are already on par with FFXVI

Final Fantasy XII has aged a bit, but it’s honestly my favorite FF game. I def recommend playing it at some point.

I burned hundreds of hours on that game. I remember so vividly how HARD it was to get that dang Tournasoul for Vaan :weeps: worth every second. I wanna do it again too on my switch. I missed the Zwill blades for my Penelo last time and it's still a big regret in my life :grill:´

The fight system in xii feels so odd compared to ffxvi. Its so irritating to me that I always lose HP no matter what I do and I havent really figured the switching of characters yet. Its quite different

After a few weeks of completing it, and an attempt at the Final Fantasy mode (got past Cid death)

The Final Fantasy mode is OK however to play it straight after the main game doesn't feel right. It's more of a mode you would pick up 6-12 months later. It's kinda off replaying the game again straight after. I wish there was more endgame content to do aside from hunts, akin to other single player FF games but I guess since it's the FF14 team I can see why they did what they did, since their concept of hard/endgame was always to rehash redesign fights.

While FF16 was good (everything post-Bahamut kinda took a big dip in quality) I do NOT want Yoshida or the FF14 team to develop the next FF. They always had a terrible approach to pacing in the story in FF14 (You literally kill the evil force you have been talking about since 2010 and immediately afterwards you feed carrots to a rabbit) and it is the same in FF16.

Well it was them or the boy band team  :cm:

For FF17 they should give us something like this:

It would be fun if the next numbered game has a main female protagonist like terra, with her focusing more on the magic aspect in terms of combat. SE should take advantage of Forspoken's crystal engine, that game's battle system is fun and the magic visuals are breathtaking.
