Oh Dion my Love :weeps:

Spoiler

His dialogue with the Emperor gave me massive "I Demand Trial By Combat" vibes and come to think of it, he really is very similar to Tyrion (arguable the best GoT character). If there's any doubt of him being my most favorite character of the game, it's now completely gone. Hell he IS my favorite Final Fantasy character of all time.

The Boss fight in Sanbreque

Spoiler

Literally, and I MEAN, literally the best boss fight I've ever experienced in my 20+ years of gaming. The gameplay, the KILLER music (Soken deserves GRAMMYS for his compositions), the narrative surrounding it... yeah I don't see how Odin or other future fights is gonna top this and that's perfectly okay. For me, the climax of this game is the reunion of Clive and Joshua, the game has been building this moment since the beginning, and when they did, oh my it was beautiful, not to mention their wretched mother witnessing how majestic her SONS have become. Just perfect. What's incredibly ironic is that, she could've become the most powerful woman in all of Valisthea, her blood was very special indeed, for she bore the dominants of Phoenix and Ifrit, Rosaria could've prospered and become the most powerful nation, but her endless greed and pride ruined it all, not just once, but twice. She's more wicked than Cersei.

Square Enix made the right decision by making the game more "linear" and story-driven.

Thats exactly how I felt though the Titan fight was still my highlight due to the switch up in terms of playstyle. When you had to run on the mega-titans body, I almost started screaming. So so good!

Spoiler

Oh I definitely can see why Titan can be the favorite fight to some people, Titan lost is one of the most exhilarating boss phases I've ever experienced in gaming. When I tell you my thumb was sore after the fight :deadbanana:

And the DIALOGUE :superman:

I seriously hope that

Spoiler

They will actually publish the story as an IRL novel penned by Clive "Joshua" with a small easter egg hinting that it was in fact Clive who wrote it. Maybe an intentional mistake where Clive accidentally forgot to write from Joshua's POV for a moment and it slips by.

Spoiler

Im currently on my way to prepare for Odin so I think both of us are at similar stages of the game.

Though I always think "they wont be able to top the last Boss battle" they always go above and beyond with the next one. I fully expect the Odin one to gag me to the max at this point. Especially since they really did an amazing job at characterizing him post Sanbreque.

Finally playing this a week on :jonnycat:

I'm enjoying it a lot. Story and characters are interesting so far. Combat is decent and bosses are cool af.

Only thing bothering me is the abundance of invisible walls. I get some of the limitations, but having a big pool in the hideout that I can't jump in is annoying, as are the knee-high branches that are somehow impassible barriers in some of the other areas... like, I dunno. That's a little immersion breaking.

Why even the side characters so goddamn handsome??? Theodore :WAP:

I’m not surprised the side quests are getting criticized as they are on the basic side, but I’m really enjoying them. They’re written well and add nice world building. I also appreciate them being simple and relaxing with nice background music in between the spectacle of everything else. And I do think they’re still memorable regardless.

Spoiler

The one in the Royal Meadow where you help the little girl find her pet, and that “pet” ends up being a Bearer is going to stick with me. Quest was super simple but the twist definitely caught me off guard.

I love simple side missions. Sometimes I just wanna zone out in a game I love.

Skyrim has a lot of jokes that people spend more time on the silly side quests and have no idea what the main story is. It's also why The Sims is so popular. Simple tasks are fun. They give room for the imagination in terms of world building.

It's like TV shows vs movies.

I will get this once my Diablo 4 addiction calms down a bit. Honestly can't wait. :WAP:

I'll replay it again around Christmas time.

There's a few games I replay every single year:

Ratchet & Clank 2002, GTA San Andreas (the ps2 version), Spyro 1.

And FF16 is about to join that list :heart2:

Edited by PoKiTaurus
Meant to say Spyro 1, not 2.

Y'all I'm finished :cries: easily going to be one of my favourite FF games. Maybe even squeeze its way into my Top 5! Everything was so engaging. From the main story to the side quests adding interesting lore and dialogue. The Eikon battles and the creativity and EPICNESS around them. The voice acting is DEFINITELY the best in all the series. It felt so cinematic. Even the NPC actors didn't sound awkward. The MUSIC. Everything about the game just worked for me. Bravo to the FF16 team :clap3:

This makes the ending even better for me :heart2:

I really hope they actually publish Clive-I mean, Joshua's  book IRL.

Girlies, I am 75% complete with the game, and I don’t want it to end. Especially since there is currently no DLC or sequel planned. :chick3:

Post-Bahamut fight spoilers:

Spoiler

The Bahamut fight was EVERYTHING. Phoenix and Ifrit merging together blew my wig off.

Joshua and Clive finally reuniting. Anabella getting her just desserts. Dion dying (very, very sad about this).

The whole sequence was just PIQUE video game storytelling and gameplay). It was late, so I had to sleep right after this, but wow… so good.

Still can't stop thinking about this :jonny: Like I'm literally just walking around taking in the world and just enjoying the environment. Anyway now that I'm finished with the game my critiquing side is taking over but I'll save that for another day lol Also Is it just me or was this game a little too easy? Like... I literally only died twice throughout the ENTIRE thing

(got that gorgeous soundtrack pre-order in btw )
