EdgeofTeeth Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Didn't love the finale apart from Tanya's ICONIC killing spree Aside from that, I felt like they could have done more to wrap up the other storylines in more interesting/unpredictable ways. Besides Tanya shooting the gays and falling off the boat, it felt like most of the great twists took place in earlier episodes so I was left feeling meh for a lot of this one.

Maddox Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Not that i'm a fan of Ryan Murphy but there's nothing in common with White aside from being TV show runners and gay (also Mike's bi). I don't see why people would compare them when their styles are completely different... OT: Perfect finale, great season!! Thank god he decided to get away from ~the discourse and play to his strengths. If the next season is indeed abt spirituality, i'm 100% sure it's going to be the best one yet

DONTYELLATME Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 (edited) Does anyone feel like this season had an actual plot and direction? First season is amazing but this is So much better. Edited December 12, 2022 by DONTYELLATME
prézli Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Tanya was so dumb. What a way to die. I screamed when she started shooting. Jennifer, the gay icon. This was an absolute comedic twist. I never liked Lucia, now I know why. I wasn't surprised when Albie and Portia got together again. Harper became my favorite character. Aubrey deserves all the flowers. We really thought Ethan would kill Cameron, huh?

S1 was more of a fly-on-the-wall "docu" style with no huge plot building I liked season one but it felt very much just like a “hey it’s lockdown and the world is ending, let’s put these fictional rich characters in a resort and have them react to current issues with some funny dynamics.” The characters were more archetypal (the Gen Z girls, the WASPy business minded parents, the Wall Street dbag). This season was much more fleshed out as a storyline which bodes better for the future of the show. Armond was a great character but I’ve seen a lot of people say this season pales in comparison to the first because he’s not in it, which is not the case at all imo. The woman who from the moment they arrived decided she was going to be miserable and hate everything on the trip? The one who despises Daphne and Cameron for being rich and selfish, while enjoying an equally luxurious lifestyle with her husband's money? The one who shamed her husband about jerking off? The one who tortured her husband for half their vacation over imaginary cheating, then actually cheated with his friend then gaslight him about it? That Harper? Edited December 12, 2022 by PoisonPill

Sombre Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 This season was much better than the first. That being said, I do not like when shows leave a wide gaping hole (as wide as Greg's) for the watcher to interpret things. Ethan and Harper's situation was so intriguing, but the ending was so anticlimactic and... hollow. At least we know with Daphne, she will always not care what Cameron does because she already has a life outside of him - he's just financing her life.

The one who tortured her husband for half their vacation over imaginary cheating, then actually cheated with his friend then gaslight him about it? That Harper? -She didn't "decide to be miserable," she was basically dragged onto a trip that she knew would be more like a business deal -You're implying it's all about her husband's money as if she doesn't hold her own finances wise? Why? -She doesn't despise either of them, but accurately assesses that their marriage is kind of phony and that they're fake. She ends up being 100% right about everything relating to their cheating and lying-filled marriage. -She "shamed" her husband for watching porn and jerking off because he made every excuse not to sleep with her, which is a sign of a failing marriage. You're doing something wrong if you'd rather watch porn than sleep with your wife -She didn't "torture" anyone bur rather accurately assessed that her husband was lying, got him to confess about doing molly with sex workers and understandably believed he wasn't telling the full story. All of this after she accurately realized that Cameron was untrustworthy and a bad influence -As far as we know, the extent of her "actual cheating" was her being kissed by someone? Not to mention her lying to him for seemingly less than 24 hours came at the heels of him lying to her for days and gaslighting her about actual physical evidence of cheating?? All of this while Ethan mopes and has delusions of Harper cheating on him despite the fact that he put himself in the position to cheat first? Ethan could have said no to Cameron so many times and still chose to get in that room with Mia and Lucia. Like. Edited December 12, 2022 by Kylizzle
Sombre Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Regarding characters, Albie was one of my favorites, until he was so gullible to give a hooker 50 thousand euros. That's not even the worse of it; you sold your mom's happiness and fed her lies about her serial cheater husband for a girl you met 3 days ago? Harper was also a favorite, until she crossed a line. Even after Cameron corroborated the story, you intentionally f#ck up with Ethan's head and go to your room alone with Cam? And then wants to cry about "WhaTS gOnNa HaPpeEN tO uS?" Ugh. Valentina is definitely the best character, I don't care what anyone says. She had the best character development.

I think the writers do a really good job at showing the juxtaposition of the supposedly "fake" couple who are having a genuinely great time together and have physical chemistry vs. the "real" couple who are miserable and never touch each other. Daphne has accepted that people are flawed, chooses to focus on the good in life, and gets what she needs. Unlike the other characters, she has found a worldview that works for her.
