Life Savers Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Eh... I was disappointed. Maybe I set my expectations too high because I was rooting for the season, but after a full 90 minutes the episode and the season as a whole felt undercooked. The friends ironically seemed to get the least screen time but it felt the most "full circle" out of all the plot lines. The monologue was so real and the acting was top notch. Lochlan's moment was also good. The shootout itself, though, not only felt rushed but also had some very questionable acting. Anyway, I might delve more on it later. The show still remains some of the best on TV and I'll be watching season 4. Edited 11 hours ago by Life Savers 2
bad guy Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago S2 is still the best. Outside of the trio and Belinda there really wasn't much resolution. I saw the Rick father twist coming a mile away and his ending wasn't satisfying to watch, he just pissed me off I think they should have added like 30 seconds to the family reacting to the news from their phones and all looking at the dad, maybe Parker Posey saying some final funny/offensive line to tie all that up. The Lochan coming back from the dead thing was just Still enjoyed it. 2 > 3 > 1. 2
Slate Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Loved this season I'm so upset that Chelsea died but at least Lochy made it. The GOATs of this season are definitely the blonde blob and the Ratliffs. The cycle repeating itself with Belinda and Pornchai was interesting. Also her son was annoying as hell 1
katara Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) OMG the finale had me in so much dread and tension because of the father and those shakes. I wasn't ready for a mass family murder. Thank goodness Lochy also got better. I really liked it overall. Belinda becoming Tanya 2.0 after getting a bit of money was chef's kiss because it's just so realistic. People switch like FigOats once they get a bit of green in their pockets. I just wish we had a bit more closure with the Ratliffs and the whole business thingy. The 3 friends storyline is also super well done because let's be honest aren't like most friendships like that? Gossip, highs, lows and everything in between? At the end it's still love. HonourableVomit Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Lochlan being the only one to get a spiritual experience after all that kii People have been following the finances of the family when that was never the message. 1
Genie in a Bottle Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Nahh. This season had brief moments but I disagree that it was better than S1. S1 was hilarious and although not as poignant as S2, I was captivated most of the time. This season was boring. What they gained in cinematography they lost in the quality of the writing. The plot just wasn't well thought out, the characters had no major development, and overall those two factors dragged the show down. I think these actors were great, but limited to a mediocre script. 5 1
Clandestine Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I'm gonna need Emmy nominations for Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, Aimee-Lou Wood, Leslie Bibb, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Rockwell. I'd also take Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Rothwell and Michelle Monaghan but I don't feel strongly about them. 1
bjorn Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Also the way Piper switched as soon as it got a lil uncomfortable…the food and some stains on a mattress …like what did you expect sis? Her whole arc was just a mess 1 1
Ger Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago That was an explosive finale for sure, so many things to comment about. Did I love it? Not necessarily, there were some "predictable" things some twists. It was exciting, but I didn't like some of the scenes I must say, some I felt they came as... unnecessary. Perhaps I need to read more between the lines. For instance, did I miss something, but what did Laurie's speech mean in the context of that last dinner? It was interesting, but I must confess I felt a little lost at times, it was confusing. Spoiler Too bad that mf Greg is still well and alive, oh Tanya, you haven't been served justice yet. Moreover, at some point I was worried for Lochie, idk I don't wanted him to die. I was sad for Spoiler Chelsea's death And also for Rick, poor suffering soul, even during his last days. Violence does not solve your problems, period. Furthermore, I found it quite fascinating how tables turned the moment Ms Belinda became a millionaire and she all of a sudden evolved into the "dream crusher" rather than being the "dreamer". I interpret that Mike wanted to stated that there is a always some inherent malice coming from millionaires. 1
Khal Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago -1 to this season for contributing to the 'Walton Goggins is attractive' agenda, which I think is an opinion that should get your free speech rights cancelled. 1 4 1
Saint James Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago i don't feel sorry for Chelsea at all. she spent the whole season following around a damaged and problematic man. he gave her so many chances to leave and she refused. she willingly walked head first into her future, she ****** around and found out. 3
RideOrDie Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago i love miss carrie but one lil cute monologue ain't gonna cut it, parker godsey stole the entire season and the final episode too "is that it tim? have you ever heard of wine?" her facial expressions when piper was talking about non organic food and stained beds 5
Rigalo Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Not that it really matters at all, but I'm pretty positive you can't just wire 5m to someone's account LOL 5
Eóghan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I binged the whole season yesterday; I'd say it's on par with season 1 but inferior to season 2. This season lacked a strong/charismatic manager of the hotel. Honestly Armond and Tanya kinda deserved their demise for their stupidity but Chelsea was such a smart, funny and pure soul, she did not deserve this. Hope Rick rots in hell (Mike White too) See y'all in 3 years. 1
Europe Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Mike White confirmed in an interview that this season was made with the week-to-week wait for episodes in mind. It seems that his main goal with this entire season was to keep people in that nervous/excited/frustrated emotional state that they feel when watching a particularly tense thriller. If you think back of the season, the music caused so many of these tones to appear in storylines that ultimately went nowhere. This is the reason why the final episode was also super slow, and barely anything happened until the last 30 minutes. He didn't set out to make good TV, he just set out to make you feel that feeling. And this is why I will only watch season 4 once all the episodes are out. The discourse about this season over the past 7 weeks was just exhausting and I'd be happy to sit all that out in the future. And this whole season would have been a better experience as a binge, without having to wait so much for these stories to sort of wrap up. 1
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted 3 hours ago ATRL Moderator Posted 3 hours ago I felt meh about the ending. The father plot twist was so obvious, as was Belinda turning into Tanya. But I do like how they did the cyclical theme, as with Lochlan's resurrection. But speaking of that— The blender story was the laziest writing I've ever seen on this show • The dad being so passionate as to knock the glass out of Saxon's hand but NOT rinsing out the blender.... • Lochlan not washing the blender when it was sitting out overnight.... I wasn't even bashing this season like others have been, but this Ryan Murphy ass plotline had me rolling my eyes out of my head They def could have found a more plausible way to put Lochlan in a near death experience, but oh well. 1
Saint James Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago +1 that a lot of the season frustrations of things going nowhere is alleviated when you binge watch. i did that for the last 2 episodes and i already feel the difference. the discourse is interesting but ultimately not worth it for me either. S3 definitely would be better condensed into 6 episodes, I hope S4 doesn't have the same stretched out plot but it probably will. 1
Uncatena Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago this awful ass season most TV series need writers rooms and this show is a perfect example of that 1 2
akoaytao1234 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The ending was cute. Nothing wild really. Spoiler As expected - the family has the least change from the groups. The dad is a prolonged edging session AND is still the most disappointing of all the stories. Nothing happened, and they moved ahead. I really wished it focused with Mother Ratcliff and the daughter. They had what I believe the original vibe of the White Lotus. Fun and spicy back-and-forth on top of semi-clear social commentary. Saxon and Chelsea is such a step down version of controversial flops like Portia and Albie. They both came off ass oddly dull and oddly anti-experiencing stuff. Rick's storyline is the wildest in terms of quality, because it has definite highlights (mostly with Rockwell) but when he takes over it just is so drab and lacking the odd spritz of funny commentary that both Season 1 and 2 had. It just him bitching around. When he and Chelsea died, I was kinda good call lol. It such a massive boring storyline. I am more ambivalent with the friend group storyline. I feel like they are friends who are not that close lol. Though it definitely is better set, because Carrie Coon and Leslie Bibb is giving their all. They made more of what they are given. I think they really shaded in a lot of the characterization and make it more than just a "friends having problem" storyline but real characters. Love them, and Parker Posey - like they really made this season lol. Also, do not curr about Belinda's story. I am sorry. Happily no categorical "gays" died this season. Just a local and some nobodies. I still think this is such a huge step down between the last two seasons. I think this should have been more salacious but it decided to be somber AND I do not think Mike did it well. He does not have the ability to develop that kind of tone I guess. it just comes off as underwritten and ingenuine. The huge emotional beats comes off as stilted rather than heartwarming or in-depth AND the what shine yet again are his more comedic characters. Posey, Bibb and Coon got the huge serio-comic characters AND is the most memorable of the group. S1 > S2 >>>>> S3.

Her whole arc was just a mess Nah, I actually thought this was a really raw and eye-opening look at privilege, especially in regards to Gen Z. So many young people want to tweet and kiki about everything going wrong with the world and how we need to "each the rich" but in reality they're not ready to give up their material comforts and actually start the revolution. Piper's storyline was incredible in that it showed how people with privilege really don't want to give it up, and it's easy for them to "play activist" without committing to the bit. Her wrap up was actually one of my favorite plot line endings. 5 hours ago, katara said: The 3 friends storyline is also super well done because let's be honest aren't like most friendships like that? It was a really great observation of how you might have nothing in common but time, but that "time" is important and should be honored. It was nice to see her self-reflect, especially after how satisfying it was to watch her get her digs in on Ms. Bob and Jackie.
gettsleazy Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'm not shocked people are hating this season because it's not as "gaggy" or "campy" as S2. But I think it might be my favorite season Yeah some plot lines could have been better fleshed out but it was an EXCEPTIONAL character study, with really well thought out characters, motivations, and dialogue. I thought it really got to the heart of the thesis of White Lotus, which is "rich people are pretty shitty and here's all the ways I can prove it." Only knock for me is the wasted Mook/Gaitok storyline (even with the turnout of the finale) and Ratcliff dad pilled out the entire midseason.
