spiritboy Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I cackled when Sritala asked about what role she would play and Sam Rockwell answering "prostitute". 4
Donquizote Posted April 2 Posted April 2 That's it for the episode before finale? It is just a filler episode. I am predicting everything will be rushed for finale next week

People don't get this is a satire and a character study, not an action adventure or a whodunnit procedural. Staying with these characters and watching them crack *is* the show, the murder is almost incidental. 4
BeachRat Posted April 2 Posted April 2 90-minute-movie-ass-lenght is enough for yall to calm down about everything being wrapped up and tied with a cute bow in one episode 1
Liafen Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Yeau um, this won't be my favorite season either. It's really drawn out with the same plot beats over and over with some of the characters. Mook & Gaitok's storyline is essentially the same 5 minutes repeated every time. Lovely set up for him to accidentally d-word her in a plot twist but come on. Same with the Ratliff dad, the constant agony and downward spiral since day 2. The only progress a character has seen was Rick and, quite weirdly, Saxon. I still kind of enjoy watching it but it is indeed terribly paced & not an 'excellent character study' some users on here keep referring to as some high-brow IQ play. It just pales in comparison to S2 in all fronts (maybe not the acting, some of the cast are exceptional). tho I gotta ask, was Greg just ***** with his girl & Saxon about his fetish or was that real? That was so left field lmao 1

It's just so good with the music and all! 1

Exactly this! Not everything needs to be quick and snappy. Actually LOVEEEEE how they're building up. 1

ATRL user RideOrDie spilling tea as usual. The only criticisms I have with this season is: 1) how slow Timmy's storyline is moving... he's been having visions of killing his family and popping pills for the past 4 episodes with almost no new information about the company and/or what's going on. The conversations with the wife and his son were good but they could've happened closer to each other I think. 2) how bad Natasha's acting has been. I don't remember it being this bad in season 1 but my god she seems like she's on a different show the stereotypical OTT black girl mannerisms especially in the episodes with the lizard also, why is she so convinced that Greg murdered Tanya? The news articles just made it clear that he left the scene but she (and the son) seem 100% convinced that Greg did it (though, him trying to bribe her strengthens her argument for sure) 1

I was told it was an "anthology series" like "American Horror Story" and that I could dive in. I only watched this season to see what the big deal is about the show. I've got to say... I don't get it and it's a bore. Watching rich, White people have dull conversations on vacation? That's what "The White Lotus" is? "The White Lotus" is exactly what people mean when they say "White people have no culture." "The Office," "The White Lotus," "Succession." These milquetoast shows are... somethin' else. People find this stuff intriguing, interesting, engaging? I don't get it. I would forgive it some if it was at least funny, but no. The only somewhat interesting storyline is the three women on vacation because some of the subtext revolves around cycles repeating, having the same arguments with your friends or family for years and never breaking out of the cycle. I can't speak to the other seasons, but this show is bland. Cancel it. ...Vin Yes... this is the whole premise of the show. Rich white people on vacation who are oblivious to the nuances of the culture/area they're in

Like... 31 is not old, for starters. Second, half of the cast is in massive age gap relationships and there has been zero chatter about that (probably cuz they're straight!) Points were made tbh. You're right. 1

A murder mystery? I don't know. But I was not expecting it to be about rich, White people being dull on vacation... and audiences (probably mostly White and old) apparently liking the show. I just know Gen Z must be ignoring "The White Lotus" completely. ...Vin

Purple Land Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I've enjoyed this episode the most so far! I think Lisa's character is associated with the robbery somehow. But the daughter's storyline feels the most useless to me... there's always something off about her and the way she looks/feels about her brother but they don't do anything with it. She spent 7 episodes doing absolutely nothing, her initial goal was to go to Thailand and that's it.
