ThousandMiles Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) ok i watched it, discourse in spoiler below Spoiler it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. What's everyone's opinion on this ultimately being damaging to the LGBTQ community, like Grace Randolph said? I feel like they've brought a homophobes idea of a gay person, especially a family member to life this episode.. Definitely for the first time in mainstream media I believe (GOT is not present day). Saxton being disgusted, seemingly non-consensual, and his brother being guilty. I would hate a homophobe to watch this with a gay son or brother. It's not a great representation. It'll be interesting to see how this episode plays out online this week. Edited March 24 by ThousandMiles 2 4
Donquizote Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Can't deny the fact that Parker Posey and those three housewives carry this season on their back so far. Parker has several iconic lines this season from actresses are prostitutes to Hillary Clinton also write a book 2
Elusive Chanteuse Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I lost interest a few episodes ago. I will wait until it finishes to catch up 1

CandyCoatedClouds Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) My only issue with the show is these abrupt endings. They didn't feel as prominent as they did in the other seasons. Also Jacklyn pisses me off greatly. People can't gossip abou5 you so easily if you give then nothing to gossip about. Theb to play the victim? Crazy and Kate being upset at Laurie for telling what truly happened is so predictable. Laurie is the only real one in that group. Gaitok's scenes of him snooping for the gun were all anxiety inducing. Lastly, I thought it would go further between the brothers but it was tamer than I thought. I saw a lot of republicans bitching in comment sections after the episode where the girls talk **** about Kate being a republican. Any commentary, however obvious it may be, just kinda goes over their heads.

Rush Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Parker Posey becoming more unhinged the longer she goes without her drugs 4
Shinkirou Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I don't like Walton Goggins storyline. Feels out of place for the show's brand. I think they saw that and tried to inject some camp with Sam Rockwell's character to make it more "White Lotus". Anyways I loved tonights episode. Carrie Coon and Parker Posey had me in tears. Gaitok's boss talking about having "killer instinct" sounds like foreshadowing. I can see Gaitok killing someone trying to be a hero for his employers and Lisa.
Blade Runner Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Just now, Bhabylon said: Need the next season to be set in Latin America It has to be a snowy european country like everyone's saying. Make it a la Force Majeure. Terrific movie. Very White Lotus. For season 5, it could be set in the brazilian wetlands. We know the killer and the victim, but we need to figure how it got there. For season 6, an african safari. lol 2
CandyCoatedClouds Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Also Locher and Pipeland is hands down the best line in the episode and this episode had a ton of zingers. 2 2
Donquizote Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) This season is heavily influence by karma theme. I think that Tanya's husband will get killed at the end. Jaclyn's husband will discover her affair. Timothy will serve jailtime for money laundering Edited March 24 by Donquizote

It'll be interesting to see how this episode plays out online this week. we need to stop caring about "good representation". at the end of the day it's fake and your only motivation is for homophobes to like you (spoiler alert: they won't). it just ends in stories that straight people would find acceptable and not honest queer experiences. growing up I imagined doing stuff with my cousins - I was a horny teenager and they were the only male people of my age around me. I would never have the same thoughts now, but that happened at that time. so I find this a better gay representation than things like Heartstopper lol. at the end of the day if you care too much about people liking you, you lose what you really are (and I'm not saying this in support of incest, I say it cause you seem to care about it) if I remember correctly, I heard some of those ideas in this video 10
Jon Snow Posted March 24 Posted March 24 another great episode. I should've gone to sleep but I decided to stay up to watch it. can't wait for the rest of the episodes! Lochlan is such a demon twink. Saxon is annoying and he's just what I imagine Petrick to be irl Parker is continuing with her brilliant performance Chelsea is so sweet, I really liked her this episode Piper might not be as I expected her to be, but let's wait if she can stay the night

Like I said a couple of weeks ago, let women, people of color, queers, etc etc be bad and nasty and stupid. We're not all saints and being portrayed as such in media is idiotic. But people lost all meaning of media literacy nowadays and even stuff like Anora gets badly dissected and trashed because "good representation" is the only thing that matters to them. 1 7
Donquizote Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I want HBO to cut their budget next season so we don't have filler episodes 2 2 1
Saint James Posted March 24 Posted March 24 there's 2 episodes left right? i might wait and binge them together. i don't think i could handle waiting another week to see how it ends
akoaytao1234 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I literally cannot this season. I know you are so intrigued by it and all but it just not hitting at all. Spoiler By this portion in Season 2, I was all in with all the characters- good or bad. The foursome were getting so messy, the Italian hookers were ploying for their money, Tanya being that light funny comedic note to balance the overall nastiness AND even Portia and Albie where funnily bumbling around with their own brand of floppage. This literally is the slowest season yet. I still do not care about the friends storyline with all of them just bumbling around. It does not help that they are so passive aggressive. I want something pertinently damaging not a bunch of qoute unqoutes. Also, I could not stand Chelsea at all. All the posturing for what, Chelsea, like girl you are bedding a "father"-figure that does not respect you at all. You are Chloe and your very dour about it. The family is the saving grace of the season AND the only storyline that I personally like, especially that of the daughter's. Her and Posey are the only true astringent pairing this season. Posey's character just goes all in AND I love it. 1
