I really find it impossible for all of these shows to be boring and slow (especially since I don't share those opinions). That just proves the point that the tv show watchers today don't have the attention span that could get them through an episode where there's not action but actual character development, tension and thematic scenes. Those people could never live through a 25 episode seasons we had 20 years ago. If you want fast pace and action, go rewatch GOT final season. Maybe then you'll realize why a show has to have a build up and character development. I'd rather watch a show that's thematically rich and has meaning and purpose People just don't want to wait 8 weeks to get to the point. If they released all the episodes at once or in bigger batches (2-3 episodes per week) these complaints wouldn't be present. It's not about a lack of attention span, people just got used to binging shows, that is how we consume media. 2 3 6

The attention span has been lowered for so many with tik tok and clips, rather than sitting down and consuming an entire episode/season. It's so funny because everyone on my timeline on bsky is praising the season for the excellent build up and then there are those who absolutely hate it. I don't even think it's a slow pace but they're flushing out a lot of the characters and their arcs, which is just as interesting to me personally. 1
Eóghan Posted March 19 Posted March 19 i haven't watched a single episode this season since episode 1 and I did the same for season 2 back then which I binged just before the season finale. that's the best course of action for this kind of show. i learned that lesson with season 1. live and learn homoseggsyuhns 2 1
makeme Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Those 3 white women are going to tear each other APART at some point Another great season go Mike White! 1

I don't think that's all it is; I haven't been seeing the same complaints about, say, Severance, despite that having had the same release pattern. I do think this season of White Lotus could've benefitted from having been trimmed down to a similar length as seasons one and two. As I've said before, the first few episodes felt very padded with repetitive/throwaway plot beats (mostly related to the three kids, but also I'm sorry but Gaitok is just so frustrating to watch). But anyway, this last episode was great on pretty much all fronts! Definitely a series highlight.
Infatuation_Junkie Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Spoiler Who else thinks it's the monkeys that get ahold of a gun?
Lagerfeld Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Honestly, this is too slow-paced for me. I'm just gonna wait for the brothers to **** and then binge all the eps. 1 1 4

Gwegend Posted March 21 Posted March 21 There's something about Parker Posey that makes her steal every project she is involved in. I truly have not watched her in any tv show or movie where she doesn't absolutely capture the attention of the entire thing. this season of white lotus is NO exception! 5

The fakest I mean in Jaclyn's defense she told her to get laid but the friend refused and it's not like Valentin is reserved property LOL
Lovett Posted March 22 Posted March 22 The way the gay kiss was hands down the least interesting part of this episode. Valentin had me quivering. 1

Makes me think of Brian Cox's insane decision to submit for lead actor for the final season of Succession when he easily would have won the guest actor category.
