boxoffice Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 This was actually SO good. Jenna Ortega stole it for me

ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted April 16, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted April 16, 2022 I have to say, though there were moments I enjoyed I was really bored by the second act. Britney, Jenna, and Mia were great so was Kid I just wasn't interested in the motive behind the killers. I don't mean to make it sound as though I hated the film, I really didn't, I think my expectations were too high. A lot of critics threw around the word 'subversion' but this didn't subvert any of the iconographies from 70s horror slasher films (save for men dying in their underwear) but even that was matched and overmatched by the female nudity and male gaze. The film itself was gorgeous but I didn't feel any tension. So many of the murders were done quickly and without rising anticipation. All in all it was good, but I don't really understand why it's getting the amount of acclaim it is

Smarticle Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 ya i felt that Spoiler jenna ortega + brittany snow's death wasn't that great
Dark Phoenix Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 This was a fun watch and it was different unlike other slashers, can’t wait to see Pearl.
Taylor Sniffs Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Spoiler The movie reminded me to age gracefully and not get obsessed with youth and beauty.
Shelter Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Finished it. I don’t get the hype. It was your typical predictable horror movie. The victims did everything you shouldn’t do. Why the praise? So disappointing since everyone was saying how good it was
Hurem Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 This was… boring? Like what even is that plot? “Young people rent a house do film porn, then get killed by an old couple” - you don’t need any extra explanation for it The entire (young) cast was sexy and nice to look at, I guess
fountain Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Yeah… this gave Netflix movie in quality but for some reason critics ate it up and by extension so did people online, I guess because of the A24 association.
Godontop Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Wow this was actually good and a bit disturbing at times

You don't go into them expecting anything other than a slow burn drama that'll leave you confused. The witch, it comes at night and to an lessor extended Midsummer was all trash. Hereditary is the only one I genuinely enjoyed
truthteller Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 how can talk about how meta is it for the characters to make an "elevated p***" in comparison to the A24-type of "elevated horror film" loving the 70s aesthetic and style.... a little fresh air in the slasher genre
Euterpe Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 This movie was so... weird. I give it credit for being different. Spoiler The fact that Mia Goth played the young AND old woman...
DoctorIce Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Slashers are mostly garbage but this is the first good one in long ass time. People in here complaining about a slow set-up and comparing it to Netflix fodder.
