BNF91 Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 (edited) Still firm on this getting closer to $2.3B than $2.2B, which should also be enough to hold off the Titanic re-release for #3 all-time. it's still doing a $70-80M global weekend, with 3 weeks until competition and it still won't just drop off a cliff once Ant-Man arrives. 6th Friday domestic is strong, $4.7M. Down just 34% from last week and a bigger Saturday jump should be expected this weekend. Should be headed for $20-22M 6th weekend. Another 30-35% drop.. pretty fantastic post holiday weekend holds. znake Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 2 billion ! only the biggest movie of all time in my country https://www.elespectador.com/cromos/estilo-de-vida/avatar-2-se-convierte-en-la-pelicula-mas-taquillera-en-la-historia-de-colombia/?fbclid=IwAR1rVBm2o2lZd1_eELWdYS0pewOMu6eZ_dOIsQuNqA09SzAmPAv7Wcd21B4
Zoe_ Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Avatar 2 will likely end up as the 3rd highest grossing film ever. That is outstanding.
MAXIMO Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 And even Cameron himself believed this could flop. See, when you do talentry, the movie is a visual spectacle like no one in the industry can serve. 2B! not even MCU ain't seeing that number ever again for a single movie. Seethe, haters!
kandicha Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 the amount of hard work, talent and passion that Cameron poured into this, and it showed. deservedly slaying.

ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted January 23, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted January 23, 2023 It really is astounding what James and co. have been able to accomplish. I am FINALLY getting the chance to see the film this week, planning on seeing it in a dolby at AMC. I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the first film (I do like it though!) and really don't care for Titanic, but you just can't deny Cameron's staying power and talent. Also, always happy for Miss Saldaña snagging another smash. A truly underrated actress who just keeps winning
BNF91 Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Not Avatar 2's overseas box office outgrossing the entire 2022 MCU's combined Doctor Strange 2- $540M Thor 4- $417M Black Panther 2- $390M~ MCU 2022- $1.35B OS combined total Avatar 2- $1.42B OS and counting (after $56M 6th wknd OS)

BNF91 Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 First film in 14 years to notch 6 consecutive weeks at #1. Last one to do it was.. Avatar.
kwek_kwek Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 With Russia and healthy China this could be a 3b dollar film.

The directing snub is unfortunate, but it was expected after the Denis snub last year. At least it got into Picture, Black Panther 2 didn't.

It didn’t deserve anyway. Best Picture is way more important anyway. A forgotten fad that grossed 2 billion and got a BP nom. We love to see it.
