So funny that avatar is the number one trending topic in reddit thanks to the movie surpassing $1 Billion. Everyone on /movies losing their mind. Poor them.

Rises from #60 yesterday, to #45 on the all-time box office chart. Should jump to #33 tomorrow.

Tuesday domestic actual up a bit to $24.1M... $1.7M ahead of Rogue One on the same day. Very good.

For a movie that doesn't have cultural impact, I'm surprised that many redditors are having meltdown on Avatar TWOW hitting 1B with ease :toofunny3:

A proof that social media/forum are out of touch with what real life is :toofunny3:

Just living for it.

saw this movie last week and to my biggest surprise, my bf said he liked this a lot more than the first as this one was less gun-shooting. The beautiful sea creature helped as well.

The interactions between the characters and those creatures elevated the movie and gave it something heartwarming.

Loved it. :smitten:

I'll try to go and watch it again in 3D. It should be so cool. :duca:

i feel like it just didn't have a dedicated daily intense fanbase the way most billionaire franchises do these days, so people wanted to dismiss it.

when that level of stanning is usually for franchises with all kinds of media dedicated to them.

i dont know anyone that watched Avatar and said they hated it in real life. And everyone in my friends circle have seen it and we talked about it.

I think haters of this movie is just a loud minority group.

The GP simply say yes.

At the very least, people still satisfy with the visual experience they got even if they dont like the generic plot or character.

To be fair I've never seen (nor will I ever care about) Dances With Wolves

But like everyone, I watched Pocahontas and Fern Gully as a kid but I never even thought of those movies while watching the first Avatar

For one, they are literally blue aliens in an alien planet :dies: And the pagan-like religion of Eywa and the cool dragon "Toruk Makto" mythology really makes it more unique and different from those movies people compare it to. And even the futuristic military aspect.

People really just followed the hate bandwagon I fear.

Watching this move in 3D was an experience

The ocean scenes are next level, probably the best scenes I’ve ever seen in visual quality.

The storyline was a major improvement compared to the first one, which was never bad tho.

As others have said, people online hated the first one but they are old and out of touch now.

This has connected really well with the GP and word of mouth is good.

The movie has legs, but I don’t know if it will be able to go as far as the first one.

It’s definitely an event.

James Quality Cameron wins again :santa:

Bad movie. So many inconsistencies and plot-holes. Little to none character and plot development. Stupid and underwritten villain. And so on.

Oh wow, Wednesday domestic estimate now up to $21M... Incredible hold.:duca:

Another 20-21M Wednesday.

Should reach $430M by Monday. The question here is what happens next. +$500M is now a given, but can it push through and leg out to +600M between January and February.

It’s still doing Rogue One numbers (performing slightly better now), but that movie just vanished into oblivion in January.

Due to the experiential nature of Avatar, I could see strong IMAX and Dolby3D legs until March. More of a theme park ride, experience, cool new thing to check out.

I'll watch this again this Friday because my friend wants me to accompany her to the theater. This will be her first time to watch Avatar and she has yet to watch the first one :toofunny3: Word of mouth has been good so far, at least in my circle. Some friends who have yet to watch any Avatar movie is excited to watch the second one because of strong word of mouth.

Your comment is already wrong when u start it off with bad movie. Especially since im sure your favorite movies are way worse than avatar 2. And there was huge plot development ..u got to be kidding. Its a 5 part film franchise. If you're gonna hate, atleast have solid takes
