1B :clap3: pack ur bags TGM

This is why I'm happy for TWOW's success even though I personally thought it was a let down compared to the first

An anti-war/anti-imperalism movie dethroning a US military propaganda film that white boomers and conservatives rallied for :clap3:

Yep yep, this is making 1.7B at the very least. Avatar 4&5 announcement should be coming early 2023.

I definitely think the next sequels will be different enough and will go in different directions. For once we know that Avatar 3 will introduce the “ash people” and that new na’vi clans will be evil/the new villains. He insist on Avatar 4&5 being the actual “meal”…

"I can say that the last few installments will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal." But whether we get to see those later installments is still somewhat up in the air: "But, of course, it all depends on how 'Avatar 2' is received, if it will find its audience."

They’re probably setting Quaritch for a redemption arc. We could see there’s good on  him when he saved Spider.

him having his human memories in a na'vi body, yeah sure they're heading this way .. sucks tho, i wanted sth fresh

I guess 2b is possible once China ease their COVID restrictions and re-release  TWOW. The word of mouth is great.

I just did a hypothetical box office run for Avatar 2. I think $2B could happen by wk 11, late February.

$2.04B finish. Without any re-releases.

How much did the first avatar make with no re-release

Next 5 days are very crucial. Since China and Japan are not giving the required numbers, United States has to pick up the slack and touch 700M. It would be quite shocking if this doesn't surpass top gun domestically.

$2.74B

Retaining 75% of the audience from the biggest film of all-time after 13 years would be fantastic.

If it does hit my mark, then it could have been $2.5B with a healthy China.

Eh nah, overseas is overperforming and making up for any shortcoming domestically. Tons of markets that have expanded greatly since 2009 that are making gains. Could potentially reach $1.5B OS alone.

And tbh domestic can still get to or even pass $600M at the rate it's going.

I don't think it would be shocking if this didn't replicate the first's run domestically.

Just found out that the first one only made 200M in China.

The fact that the second one is  doing >100M already in China with COVID resurgence is amazing.

Maoyan forecast has increased to $170M. It's down just 17% week to week now. $200M still possible.

Of the 51 films that have reached the billion dollar mark, Avatar 2 was the 6th fastest.
