This is undeniably smashing the Box Office :deadbanana4:

Yup it's Christmas but still.. :dies:

I hope there'll be some variance in the plot for AVATAR 3.. keep the story interesting if you'll serve us 3hour lomg movie.. VISUAL FEAST for hours straight is not enough for me to keep up :dies:

Yeah same that’s why I’m disappointed the main villain lived. Not here for a 3rd movie with the same rivalry

They’re probably setting Quaritch for a redemption arc. We could see there’s good on  him when he saved Spider.

Eddie falcon will prob turn into the main villian when quaritch is redeemed...or plot twist quaritch kills neyteri after they think they can trust him

Rest in Peace Marvel :rip:

Good riddance to your crappy Phase 4 movies and shows.

Although I hope Avatar ends up as a trilogy and it doesn't go on forever, but knowing how money hungry Disney is, we should expect it...

Remember everyone saying this is a forgotten fad and now trying to force this underperformance narrative :lmao:

This. They are such fools. I wonder how many times Cameron needs to succeed before they finally admit that he knows what he's doing in terms of box office appeal. It sorta reminds me of OGH's. It's beautiful to see them prove themselves to be huge fools.

I need Neytiri to stop screaming on the 3rd movie

Anyway I’m glad the movie issa success ❤️

He's already said they might be scrapped if 2 & 3 underperform. Obviously 2 seems to be smashing, so it'll be down to 3's performance to determine whether it ends up as a trilogy.

I don't think so, Cameron said they would adjust the ending for 3 depending on 4 & 5 being given the all clear. So we will definitely know before the third movie if 4 & 5 are going ahead.

I doubt it since Cameron has to film and finish most of Avatar 4 and the enterity of Avatar 5 for 2026 and 2028 respectively and these movies take a lot of time to film and they spend a lot of time in post-production. So they’re definitely not waiting until Avatar 3 in 2024 to start filming.

After Avatar 2’s success, Cameron will probably start filming Avatar 4 next year at the earliest.

Can someone just explain for me why it took Avatar 2 such a long long time to be out at theaters but now it seems they are rushing to make 3 4 5...

James didn't just want to jump in blind to making a sequel without properly planning it out. He wrote an initial script before realizing it was too generic and not as "out there" as he wanted it to be so they scrapped it and it got turned into a prequel comic.

Before they started shooting they set out to finish all the scripts for the then three sequels and only then did they start shooting. While writing Avatar 2 they realized it was too big of a story for one movie so they split it into 2 and 3, the other two then got pushed back to 4 & 5.

They are not rushing to make Avatar 3 as it is already fully filmed as 2 & 3 were made at the same time. The only thing Cameron was rushing to make while shooting 2 & 3 is the parts of 4 that still had the young cast as kids, he wanted to get ahead of them growing up because waiting for 4 & 5 to get greenlit would have meant they would outgrow their characters.

Avatar 3 is fully shot with only VFX left and the ending left to question if 4 and 5 get the go ahead
Avatar 4 has some initial few scenes shot with the kids
Avatar 5 is only a complete script.

I feel like in retrospect this movie will be totally dismissible yet its still a good movie. They are still in exile and basically in the same situation they found themselves in at the beginning of the film...

Its so immersive. Loved when they jumped in the water for the first time.

Still haven't learned any of their names tho :rip:

Good Monday earnings in United States! First optimistic sign yet!

Hopefully Spider faces consequences in the next one. Not feeling him playing both sides

Looks like Sunday was underestimated and Mon overestimated for OS grosses. Still great. I think Tuesday should be even with Monday OS, and down 25-30% DOM for around $22.5-23M. $1.03B or so after Tuesday.

France collected over $6M on Monday.. flies past $60M. India 2nd Monday 55% bigger than Endgame, triple that of NWH. Italy 2nd Monday biggest day of it's run, over €3M. Spain big Monday too, €2.4M. Many places in holiday mode so big grosses everyday.

I'm glad the movie is doing pretty well everywhere :clap3:

shook at the underperformance in Japan though :deadbanana2: maybe it will serve longevity.

would you happen to have numbers for this one? never seen czechia in these tape of discussions

Found some info.. so far it has reached over 90M (local currency) after it's 2nd weekend. Apparently should be good enough to leg it out to biggest film ever.

I'm pressed cause I expected this sequel to make everyone look back on the first movie in a more positive light

only to backfire and make everyone hate on it even more! :biblio: I will truly never understand why people hate on it (aside from it still being #1 of all time I guess?)
