Also the loose tie with Maya The last 7 episodes were medium at best, bestie. I'm still going to miss this show though

They needed at least a few more episodes to tie up everything This was still one of the best shows in recent memory and I’m gonna miss it
EdgeofTeeth Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 On the last episode and I'm not sure when I'll watch it, I don't want this show to end. Probably my favorite ever This last batch of episodes hasn't been perfect, but this show has only ever been quality. The way they even sneak the comedy in there with Ruth's redneck-ness and Wendy's meltdowns is just *chef's kiss*

HabbGaga Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I literally enjoyed every second of this show up until the last 10 minutes
X~MoviePoP Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Horrible final episode. Wendy is the worst character by far and i didnt like her ending. She can choke.
X~MoviePoP Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I stan jonah if he did what NEEDED TO BE DONE, And took out a certain woman!!!
HabbGaga Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I'm not mad about the ending, theres no way you can please everyone. I respect it and appreciate them telling the story they wanted to tell, I just feel unsatisfied I guess. It's not a GoT situation where it completely destroys everything that came before I just have some thoughts. I get the argument that it fits with the story they've been telling all along, Wendy and Marty have always been practical and this is a practical ending I guess? The issue for me is that the climax just felt underwhelming, this coming from someone who loved The Sopranos ending and thought it was genius.. but Ozarks last 15 minutes just didn't give what I was hoping it would give. One of my favourite characters died and I felt nothing. I didn't want it to happen ofc, but when it did I just kind of felt numb. I felt there was another way and this didn't need to happen and that's kind of what the show has always been about, there being another way.. Wendy and Marty finding a solution to the predicament they found themselves in and this time they didn't and I guess this wasn't their predicament and it shows that Wendy and Marty were always just selfish and out for themselves but it felt like that character that died was the exception especially for Marty. It kind of felt rushed and I wish Camelia was introduced sooner. That character getting a happy ending would have been predictable and would have drawn comparison to Jesse from Breaking Bad but still with that character being the sacrifice I feel it should have held more weight. I was expecting some double crossing, Marty betrays Wendy and has a hit placed on Camelia instead of Omar which maybe is predictable but idk. Then you have the final scene where the private investigator knew what Wendy and Marty were capable of but he still chose to confront them? It didn't seem particularly clever. I don't understand that. It also felt weird that earlier in the season Marty wasn't smart enough to figure out that Camelia was the one that ordered the hit on her brother when it was literally so obvious from the second it happened. So some decisions just had me questioning things. They've dramatized the show before, for example the priest "baptizing" Zeke holding him under the water for a minute straight and then the baby comes up perfectly fine. So I kind of wish we got some of that in the finale. The show did an incredible job of always having me on the edge of my seat, but it was different this time. I felt some build up happening and I was getting nervous but then when stuff went down I expected it to have more impact. That's my point I guess. Maybe I'll come around to the ending, there are parts of it I do like but others I'm just like ehh. Still its an amazing show. Its rare something this entertaining comes along. It was consistently good the whole way through. I appreciated every second of it including the ending even if I don't entirely love it right now. Ruth was fantastic, I loved Martys demeanour, Wendy was one of the most complex characters and so brilliantly played by Laura Linney, I hope she wins all the awards this year, she really gave one of the best performances I've ever seen on TV. Definitely one of my favourite shows and so happy to have watched it. Idk how to use spoiler tags anymore so I tried my best
BuzzCharts Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 The ending was fine. People are too emotionally attached to their fav characters and prefer that over narrative that actually makes sense. Everyone that was ever involved with the Byrds had their life ruined from S1-S4. The Byrds used their brains while most others just worked on emotion, hence why their dead.

The finale showed that the Byrds have always been calculated, selfish, and will get away with everything My only complaint is the car crash red herring and that the last episode was a bit rushed. I’m perfectly fine with how everything else turned out

EdgeofTeeth Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 That finale was painful, but it made complete sense and justified all the central themes of the show perfectly. Ugh, I'm going to miss it so much.
alfonso12 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 The way they made us gag until the very last minute one of the best tv shows ever, I fear.

Shelter Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 I enjoyed the last episode but I didn’t realise it was the very last episode. So I’m a bit disappointed that’s just the way it ended.
Martyr Of Fame Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I loved the ending. It was as predictable as it was poetic. Even if it was difficult to watch. Anyways, run Laura Linney her EMMYs NOW! One for Season 4 and one for being season 3 because she was SNUBBED.
Martyr Of Fame Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Also Wendy Byrd is and always will be an amazing, complex character. I’m tired of the slander.
Brando Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 This whole show was rather mid for me. Unrealistic plots and twist all the way. But damn this last season was the pits. I was so bored watching it.
James_Dean Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Just finished this... idk what to think. I feel unsatisfied? Like someone else said, I didn't realize I was on the last episode till the credits rolled Also, the private investigator lasting that long.... doesn't make any sense to me. He was constantly snooping and a threat, why didn't the Byrds just get the Cartel to handle him?? So dumb. Ruth's ending was pretty mid too. For being such a huge character in the show, her death scene didn't feel at all emotional. And then ending the show with a black screen and unanswered questions is just lame. I'm annoyed
