Arsenal regain their place at the top of the Premier League table with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Aston Villa and the fact that Manchester City threw away two points in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

They have a 2-point edge with a game in hand over Man City.

St. Louis City SC played their first ever MLS game and got their first ever win to take home 3 points.
They took a 1-nil lead, then lost it to go down 2-1, and recovered to win 3-2.
Tim Parker scored the team's first ever goal, Jared Stroud scored the match-tying goal to level it 2-2, and João Klauss scored the winner.

What an epic comeback win by the Arsenal. Down 2-nil, we came back to win 3-2, thanks to Reiss Nelson's last-second winner at the death.

The lead stays 5 points over Manchester City.

BBC's Match Of The Day programme (program for the American-minded) will be presenterless and punditless today in solidarity of presenter Gary Lineker's unfair dismissal from the program over his comments on Twitter that rightly criticized the Sunak Government's cruel asylum policy.

Jim Waterson at The Guardian:

Quote
Match of the Day will be broadcast without presenters, pundits or its usual commentators this weekend, after the main host, Gary Lineker, was suspended from the BBC for breaching impartiality guidelines after criticising the government’s asylum policies.

In a dramatic and unexpected escalation of a crisis that has been brewing all week, the corporation took the decision to remove its highest-paid presenter from its flagship football show after he was criticised by Tory MPs and the rightwing media.

His suspension immediately led to displays of solidarity from Lineker’s co-hosts Ian Wright and Alan Shearer, who publicly announced that they would not be turning up to present Saturday’s show.

Faced with an effective strike by its on-screen staff and unable to find willing replacements, the BBC took the unprecedented decision to announce that the Premier League highlights programme would go ahead without any hosts or studio presentation. It will feature only match footage.

St. Louis City SC are having a strong start, as they are 3-0-0. All three of their wins were of the comeback variety.

Arsenal go 8 up on Manchester City in the Premier League with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace. Bukayo Saka scored a brace and had an assist.

Thomas Partey was moved to RB when Ben White came off.

Arsenal are up 8, but Man City have a game in hand.

Welcome back to the Premier League, Burnley. They got that task done with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship (England's 2nd division).

1 spot down, 2 to go for the 2023-24 PL campaign.

Sheffield United is all but likely to be the 2nd automatic promoted team.

The battle will be for the 3rd and final promotion spot, which will be sorted out in the playoffs between the teams placed 3rd-6th.

Same story as last Sunday: Arsenal blow yet another 2-nil lead to draw 2-2 and throw away another 2 points, this time to West Ham, whose solitary point gained in the table may be huge for their survival chances.

As for Arsenal's title race, it took another blow.

The UEL and UECL sems are now set:

UEL: Juventus v. Sevilla [Juventus just got their 15-point deduction in Serie A reversed... for now] and AS Roma v. Bayer Leverkusen
UECL: Fiorentina v. Basel and West Ham v. AZ Alkmaar

Wrexham are promoted to League 2 (England's 4th tier), as they beat Boreham Wood 3-1 to win the National League (England's 5th tier) and secure its auto-promotion spot. They are back in League football again.

Manchester City beat Arsenal 4-1. Arsenal's title race is slipping away from them, as their lead is down to 2 and could be behind them come Sunday when they play Fulham if they win that. Hope and pray for a big point deduction against Man City.

Good news for Gunners fans:
With Nottingham Forest beating Brighton 3-1, Arsenal are assured of Top 4, meaning that they will be in the Champions League next season for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

Manchester City are back on top of the table, albeit temporarily, as they beat Fulham 2-1. Arsenal will play Chelsea Tuesday, and if Arsenal snap their 4-match winless rut, then they go back on top until at least Wednesday, as City play West Ham.

Crossing my fingers for Arsenal wins and dropped points/losses (or points deduction) for Manchester City.

Liverpool blew a 3-0 lead, only for Tottenham to tie it up 3-3... only for Liverpool to score the 4th goal to take three big points.

Arsenal got a big win to stay in the title hunt, as they blanked Newcastle 2-nil. On Saturday, Manchester City beat Leeds 2-1.

Arsenal are a point behind Man City. The title race is going down to the wire, and hopefully City drop points or lose games and Arsenal keep winning all theirs.

What remains of Arsenal's faint title hopes went bye-bye, as Brighton flattened them 3-nil at the Emirates. Also, Manchester City ran Everton off the Goodison pitch 3-nil to get closer to their 3rd straight title.

Luton Town and Coventry City will play for the right to be promoted to the Premier League next season in the EFL Championship Promotion Playoff Final.

Coventry beat Middlesbrough 1-nil (1-nil aggregate) advance.

Coventry City were last in the Premier League in the 2000-01 season, while Luton Town have never been in the Premier League  (although their last year in the 1st tier was in the old First Division in the 1991-92 season, the last prior to the founding of the PL).

With Nottingham Forest's 1-nil win over Arsenal, Manchester City have won the league and Nottingham stay up.

It was lost the moment William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu both went down and also the moment the 3 consecutive draws happened.

I feel the same way. Several weeks ago, it felt like Arsenal were gonna win it all or least force it to MW38. Seeing then choke it away is so maddening; on the other hand, Arsenal exceeded expectations that most people had them a fringe Top 4 team at best.

With Brighton beating Southampton 3-1, they have qualified for European football for the first time in their history. They will likely be in the UEL.

Borussia Dortmund take a 2-point lead in the Bundesliga table after the 33rd matchweek, as they beat Augsburg 3-nil. This is in conjunction with yesterday's Bayern 3-1 loss to RB Leipzig
