I'm happy they straight up told us the names and launch dates of all the DLC. That whole "we can't wait to show you the new [REDACTED] dlc soon!!!" cryptic crap felt awful.

What I don't understand is, everyone says Sims 4 feels soulless and lacks the heart of past Sims titles.

InZoi is total realism and even has death by car accidents apparently. No magical aspects to the game at all from what I see. Very toned down animations compared to the Looney Tunes facial expressions of Sims 4.

Yet everyone is like "The Sims is over!"

So based on this, Sims community wanted a T rated GTA Online-esque game all this time?

Can't speak for others, but I prefer realist characters over cartoonish looks. Which is why Sims 2 >>> 3 and 4

Official Sims website did ask their players through a poll which games they love playing alongside Sims, and while other options were similar life simulation and building games, GTA was the odd one out that they included in their poll. A lot of Simmers do in fact play GTA games. When I was a child, I played Sims 2 base game and GTA Vice City on same computer with that big, white boxxy monitor screen kskskskksksks

People complaining about InZoi computer performance reminds me of Simmers in 2009 complaining about Sims 3 because open world crushed their 1998 purchased computers.

It's time to update those 2012 laptops babygirls

I downloaded Inzoi character creator and it almost blew up my computer but I'm not gonna sit on my ass and complain about gaming technology advancing and leaving outdated hardware behind. To be honest this is one of the reasons why Sims 4 is kind of a failure, they REALLY want it to run on ancient machines to milk the fans so they never do anything too complex/demanding/groundbreaking

I had a used laptop made in 2008 that apparently was 64bit compatible so that means that the folks who caused drama over the end of 32bit support in 2019 were most likely on computers from around... 2005

You know what, I've been thinking of buying a second hand copy of The Sims: Full House. This is a sign.

Yep. Rene is a spin off.

Makes sense. I read that 4 is basically up there with Minecraft and Roblox with the highest player counts for games so far.

It would be like asking those audiences to drop the game and move to a Minecraft 2 or something. It would flop.

4 launching as a failure to ending up as their most successful game ever by an insane margin is kind of crazy tbh.

Sims 4 is here to say, I won :fan:

I'm confused though, is Project Rene a multiplayer mode for the Sims 4??

Here they're saying, a multiplayer expansion for the current game so Sims 4.

But in the official article released by EA, they're saying this:

Quote

Continuing its development alongside other exciting new projects within The Sims franchise, Project Rene is focused on building ways for friends to meet, connect, and share while playing together in an all-new world.

There will be a small invite-only playtest for Rene this Fall 2024, giving an early look at a multiplayer experience that explores joining friends and other players at a shared location.

The Sims battle royale is coming

Since they're doing spin offs now, I NEED a medieval type one. Just the exact same game but set in medieval times, not like TS£ spin off (although it was fun and I loved how the sims looked)

New update. Performance notes seem good!

New swatches on a lot of stuff, I'll check them out for myself. The hipster sofa got new ones so I'm really curious about that.

The new event reward missions...the new lot trait looks cool.

Mod creators already got the 1st events' items as CC so hopefully they can get these as well.

It would have been much more cool if the missions were incorporates as a new scenario in the game instead of this timed bs.

Spoiler

inb4 I actually have fun with these missions and then get sad when I finish all of them  :gayorkcat4:

What expansion packs do you guys think they will add in the upcoming years? :cm:

Posted

They did a survey with a bunch of expansion ideas:

Quote

Expansion Pack 1
Dive into a colorful ocean world filled with fun and adventure. Explore underwater landscapes, find hidden treasures, and meet diverse marine life. Build your dream property on the beach or open ocean, and create an aquarium with collected artifacts and aquatic life. Travel from unique ocean neighborhood location to discover each small town, meet the locals, and trade goods. Live on houseboats, fish from rowboats, or explore with submarines. With underwater and open water spaces, every dive and every sea-faring offers new discoveries.

Expansion Pack 2
Sims take life on the road with a customizable travel van, exploring picturesque destinations and engaging in meaningful experiences with locals from different worlds. Trade items, recipes, and stories from each location, then return to a world where Sims dream to retire to update your van and dive deeper into the mechanic career. Partake in whimsical misadventures with family or solo, and enjoy expanded elder activities during their golden years, enriching generational storytelling.

Expansion Pack 3
Traverse an uncharted, otherwordly extreme environment where civilization has collapsed and nature has reclaimed the remnants of a once-great city. Master adaptation skills to survive and thrive, from finding basic resources and creating makeshift shelters to creating homes for your team of Sims whom, with your unique skills combined, you will partner with to get through crumbling structures, overgrown streets, and hidden corners of a vast, post-apocalyptic landscape. The game blends exploration, survival, and strategy elements, introducing exotic pets, expanded fishing, and a survivalist career, and introduces a dynamic resource management based on availability.

Customize and contribute to museums you curate that blend adventure and education, showcasing these incredible finds while inspiring visitors and creating activities for children that share the importance of conservation and adventure skills. *

Expansion Pack 5
Transport your Sims to a near-future vibrant cyberpunk world where they can explore a neon-lit gritty city advancing the latest Sims technology from enhance their bodies with cutting-edge cybernetics to homelife conveniences. As a human or robot Sim, dive into tech-focused hobbies and careers through underworld professions such as cybernetic cosmetics to robot fighting rings; discover relationships between humans bots, and everyone in between; and navigate the moral complexities of nature versus technology in this futuristic, whimsically dystopian world.

Expansion Pack 6
Choose your Sims' path: become notorious criminals, revered law enforcers, or somewhere in between. Small-time crime like pickpocketing for grilled cheese can quickly escalate into high-stakes bank heists for rare jewels. From shady back alley deals to intense stakeouts, navigate the underbelly of a gritty city filled with gritty locations like pool halls and an unsavory cast of characters. Will your Sims rise to power as mafia bosses and con artists, uphold justice as crime-fighting heroes, or play both sides?

Expansion Pack 7
Embark on life-changing adventures where children discover new hobbies through recreation and exploration activities that shape their future interests. Create your own sleepaway camp with beaches, lakes, rivers, and pools, where kids can socialize, play, and learn new skills under the care of lifeguards, camp counselors, and babysitters. Dive into endless water activities, uncover camp myths, discover new creatures, make lasting friendships, and develop hobbies to share with the whole family.

Expansion Pack 8
Dive into a vibrant 80s/90s retro world with bustling mall venues and freelance careers. Hang out at the arcade, comic book store, gameboard café, and ramen shop. Enjoy classic activities like tabletop role-playing games, landline phones, and rollerblading. Be a babysitter, deliver newspapers, or be the beloved lifeguard at the community pool. Have a blast on the water slide and drink from the hose while reliving this vintage era through old-time objects, unique storylines, and unforgettable drama.

Expansion Pack 9
Experience the grandeur and drama of modern monarchy as you build your Sims legacy in a culturally rich world. From managing high-rise estates and navigating political intrigue to customizing luxurious fashion and high-end living, this pack offers a unique blend of traditional and contemporary royal life. Forge alliances, engage in rivalries, and shape your destiny as you rise from commoner to beloved ruler or navigate the complexities of royal succession. Adopt exclusive pets, go shopping for luxury items and favors for your close-knit circle of trusted (and not-so-trusted) friends. Live the life of luxury, influence, and power, and create a legacy that will be remembered for generations.

I lowkey need all of these but Pack 5 and 8 are probably my favorite. :jonny:

they all *sound* fun but this is my problem with the sims 4. they lure you in with these grandiose pack descriptions and cute trailers but then you open the game and remember why you exit after playing for only five minutes
