Christian Pulisic, I would be more than happy to nurse your balls back to full health. Show me where it hurts, daddy

it's over but that was too close at the end. USA have a lot of work to do before the match with Netherlands.

The Netherlands??!? Hmmm... yeah, time to pack your bags USA, but at least they survived round 1, so let's celebrate that

We need US-Slay to pull Saudi Arabia/Japan against Holland!

It was nice to watch a game where players weren’t flopping every two minutes. Take note South American and European teams.

Why is the soccer thing such a big deal? We Canadians call it soccer too. Why is it a big deal with this, but no one cares that what the English call crisps, we call chips. What they call chips, we call fries, etc.

The same differences exist for many words between all of the Spanish speaking countries. Who cares. :skull:

We should just call it Freedom Ball to press some more nerves. How are you going to be pressed over what a local language calls a sport? It’s the same people who can’t comprehend that we have a different word for pineapple that isn’t ananas.

We're so easy in this fakenews era. :skull:

I'm pretty sure they don't feel any different than that anyway.

To be fair, other non-English languages also call it foot-ball but in their own words. For example Polish people call it "ˈfo͝otˌbôl". See what I mean?

No we call it Piłka nożna (which literally translates to ball-foot), but still, it's a different language so it sounds very different. If we go far back enough all of these languages evolved from the same thing anyway... it's normal for local dialects come up, for language to change, and with time languages become separate.

As a Christian Pulišić stan, he did interviews where he said he calls the sport both names and isn't bother by it (when he plays in Europe, he calls it football, when he's in America, he says soccer) and said he doesn't understand the uneccesary outrage over calling the sport one way or another.

It's deeper than just words. It's about this USA arrogance of always appropriating things like the word football or even the name of the whole continent to call themselves like that. :skull:

The entire world knows football is the FIFA one.

Yeah, I see, we in Croatia call it "nogomet" which means rougly "leg and target" but we call American version also football but we just add American word beforehand so it goes as "American football". I don't mind, I'm not triggered over words but I do find culture war over the name funny and amusing so I also engage in it sometimes just for s**ts and giggles
