I'm so hyped for this.

I loved the first game so I'm excited for this, but as someone who isn't a diehard Zelda fan I don't know how I feel about the idea of them reusing the map from BOTW, I saw there is islands in the sky but still I think I'd rather an entirely new map to explore. I don't think I've ever played another game where they reused the same map for a sequel.

I felt the same way but then part of me is now excited to see how the original map has changed, and the new overground and underground areas to explore. Although I do think a new map, to the scale of botw would have been amazing.

If the main map has changed significantly then that's cool but if the changes are only minor I really don't think I care to explore the entire map again. Seeing what some npcs in certain little villages are up to is the only thing I am kind of looking forward to in terms of this choice.

I share a similar feeling but we probably still don't know a lot about the game.

 

There are two new maps though : one in the sky and one underground.

Please, y'all - the map's not going to be only light changes after six years of development  Have a little faith in the team that's literally made the greatest and most acclaimed video game series of all time. I honestly thought the recent trailer would have put people at ease with this concern - we saw plenty in that short series of clips alone that wasn't in BOTW.

 

I never actually got the concern anyway since reusing a map for a sequel isn't new and the Zelda team has never put out a dud.

The biggest reveal in the previews is that

The tower-like building in the Great Sky Island is named the Temple of Time. We know the temple is meant to be a gateway to the sacred realm. The idea that there are two Temples in TOTK imply that we might be traveling between realms

I'm watching Luke on OutsideXtra talk about how the game is "broken" in the best way possible and how, instead of listening to the fans, Nintendo actually doubled down and created NEW mechanics for TOTK, rather than just relying on what's worked in the past or what the fans wanted from old Zelda games.

 

And I'm trying really hard to contain my excitement but I actually do not remember feeling this way about ANY piece of media since I was like... 8? BOTW came out of nowhere and truly surprised me, and the idea that they're leaning into the new rather than nostalgia (ironic, since Nintendo has a bonafide hit in the cinemas which does the exact opposite) seems very tailoured to me and NOTHING is tailoured to me, lol. I'm so freaking hyped!

Apart from Zeltik, this was another great preview. Really shows off how accurate the physics are, & how sandboxy the new mechanic is. He's probs the only previewer that solved that puzzle that convolutedly, & it still worked. He isn't shy from listing the potential issues too, unlike every one else.

From the same creators of "it's just DLC", now we have the "awful frame drops"

 

It just took one bald man saying he experienced "game breaking errors" to get a whole story of content creators discussing they're "worried" about the quality of the game

 

 

Meanwhile, the people who played the previews said they saw not serious frames drops (that were even less intense than what we see in the Korok Forest in BOTW)
