Supermassive Games (Until Dawn, The Quarry, Dark Pictures Anthology) is allegedly developing a Scream video game and Mason Gooding (I wonder if he knows something 👀) just liked a tweet about it:

Now that the writers' strike is over, they better get back in the room and finish the script so they can go in production in January/February and give us Scream VIII on October 18, 2024 :jonny5:

Unfortunately I don’t see Paramount friendly-firing as Smile’s sequel has already been confirmed for October 2024 :monkey:

Ghostface would be so good for an October release. And so fitting. :chick3:
Slime taking Scream’s place during Halloween month is wild.

Yeah, I feel similarly. I enjoyed Smile and am happy Paramount has another promising horror property, but Scream has never had an entry released during October and if we can't get 7 in 2024 I just really hope they save it for Halloween 2025. It's about time Ghostface shows the other girlies what a horror legend looks like

Side note: Purportedly Miramax is entertaining offers for the Halloween franchise and it's rumored that Paramount is pursuing them aggressively. Paramount owning both Scream and Halloween could be a pretty big deal tbh. Though I think the last two Halloween films soured the legacy a bit.

I can't believe the one time they were aiming for the Halloween release, a strike happened :jonny2:

Maybe they will aim for a Christmas release, like with 1 and 2? I just hope it's not another January release... sigh.

This would be full circle in a way that original Scream was released before Christmas and all of the movies in franchise have been released in winter ( except for Scream 4 and Scream VI, which is between winter and spring ).
Not to mention the potential for the setting and cinematography. :cool2:
I can see December 2024 for Scream VII ( even though I was hoping we would have a Scream movie during October at some point ).

Part of me wants them to just drop the meta commentary aspect. They haven’t really done a great job with it the last two, and I’d rather spend the time developing characters and action. There’s also just not much material right now to comment on.

Sadly I kindve agree. There’s not some huge overarching trend going on in horror right now that we can as a general audience audience can feel keen to. The original movies had such clear cut and concise trends and motifs they were commentating on but now the horror genre is so broad in its scope of what people watch.

perhaps they can find other aspects of entertainment at large to commentate on, perhaps the writers strike? Idk
