TheShowoff Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Went and saw this in IMAX today and it exceeded my expectations. Perfect balance of comedy, action, and family drama imo. Never seen a film that explained how I feel about life and the universe so well. I need word to get out on how good this movie is!
Mast Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I thought that this movie was genius; some do y'all my day I am reading too deeply into it but I genuinely thought the movie offered anti-Capitalist critique while tackling other sociocultural narratives like immigration, gender/queerness, and complex familial relationships. Overall, I think the film highlights the absurdity of life when we treat it as purely transactional and for our own pleasure/success, when ultimately it is the relationships we forge, regardless of our differences, that provides of with strength to get through the absurdity of it all. Or something idk.
Guest Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 This was such an rewardingly overwhelming experience. I was crying very early on and barely recovered at all, and laughed through most of it aswell. I can’t stop thinking about it’s themes, it’s quite confronting. To think about whether things really matter or not, I think nihilists can feel the way they do because if things actually matter, well…then the world is a wildly stressful and overwhelming ride of emotions… it’s almost like a way to cope. I’m going through it since I left…
Buddy Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Just finished. Wow. An instant classic. I'd like to say this exceeded my expectations, but I knew it would one of my favorites of all time, if not my #1. Can't wait to watch another five times. I may actually purchase it just to own it on my computer. It was the most profound experience, and yet somehow never for a moment took itself seriously. Broke all the rules of what a film should be which paid off immeasurably. This may sound like the most basic pretentious response, but it seems rather unfitting to call this just a movie - it's a JOURNEY!

I’m going through it since I left… There are so many words to describe this movie, it is literally so many things. But by the middle of the movie "overwhelming" was the word I thought of most. Really, I just had to submit to it and let it take me on a ride. There are so many contradictions to it. It left me feeling with existential dread but a warm comfort simultaneously.
pigeon Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I am seeing this today. Yas Queen Michelle **** my life. My flop country didn't bother with IMAX screenings though
BNF91 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 LMAO it was flat from last week Friday, a 0% drop Another $5M~ this wknd. WOM darling, with these kind of legs $50M is done and dusted. I guess an eventual worldwide release could see this gem come close to if not pass $200M?

I hope for 50M…but it really depends on how much Dr Strange would destroy it’s leg…or not 200M worldwide is very very unlikely especially most countries are releasing this in conflict with Dr Strange anyways, I am watching this for the 8th and final time tmr. In IMAX again. Edited April 30, 2022 by JasperX
BionicWooHoo Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Saw it yesterday and I laughed, I cried, felt a full range of emotions I hope it gets Oscar recognition tbh
fridayteenage Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Since shutdown, original movies with sub-$50 mil budgets: Dog $62 million box office US Everything Everywhere $35 million box office US by this weekend No others at $30 mil.
ALA Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 This will play all throughout May. Thinking it goes above $60m. So nice to see a WoM smash again
BNF91 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Yeah this isn't going to get killed by DS2. If anything Fantastic Beasts 3 will be the sacrifice. EEAAO will make more money than it from now on so theatres would likely keep it instead of the plummeting Potter flop.
Jotham Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 I just watched it on IMAX. I already had high expectations for it and it was still way better than I expected.

The only problem is that DS2 will most likely vacuum out most screens from other films. Especially the premium screens (IMAX and Dolby) will be given from EEAAO to DS2. A significant drop is likely next week, but let’s hope the hit is not too big. The current range is looking at ending between 45 to 55m. Hopefully it ends on the high end Edited May 1, 2022 by JasperX
BNF91 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Saturday and Sunday were even better, turning the weekend into a 2% increase from last weekend. Crazy legs. Queen Michelle deserves

sunmimi imfurst Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 I LOVED it. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. It was a lot funnier than I expected too. So much creativity and great acting doesn’t come around that often like this, a true gem Was it just me that found the plot actually quite straightforward? I wasn’t really confused at any point with the plot, it was more the absurdity of what the **** has happening on the screen
