Psychological in that it's disturbing but everything feels very much real. It's got that Megan is Missing/Poughkeepsie Tapes subject matter but never really shows anything which is an interesting approach
Capris Groove Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Which Friday the 13th film is your favourite girlies? It's gotta be part 2 for me. It's genuinely creepiest and I think Jason is at his scariest with the sack mask. The atmosphere is great, the characters are well-thought out, the final girl. 1
commander Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I watched Oddity because it's been so hyped here in the thread only to be a disappointed. It had a very strong start but the ending was little too predictable. 6/10 1

And after that they slowly drop in quality. From parts 5-9 they are just horror trash. (I still watch them as they are entertaining trash). Jason X is just sooooo bad. The remake though, I do not use nor acknowledge its existence.

I'd rank them like this: 6 > 2 > Remake > 10 > 5 > 4 > 7 > 1 > 9 > 8 > 3 6 is when they finally decided to go full silly instead of taking the franchise seriously like the previous sequels, and that adds a lot of rewatchability. 5 is hated because it's not "the real Jason", but it has its fun moments with the redneck family and those damn enchiladas. 4 is the favorite of a ton of people, but what I mostly remember from that movie is the group of teens/y.a watching old porn and thinking it's the funniest thing they've seen it would have worked better if they focused more on Tommy and Trish than that group It feels wrong putting 3 that low when that's where Jason gets the hockey mask, but I was so annoyed by how recycled it looked from the first 2. The same character tropes, an even worse protagonist, crappy 3D effects, another dream sequence and Jason was too rapey I've only seen these movies once though, so my opinion might change in the future. But it's not like the franchise is some well written masterpiece that makes me want to rewatch every so often

I feel like it was missing something and wanted more. 4.5/10 same. idk how to explain it but it felt like i was watching the first episode of a series, full of setup and then it just kinda ended. like someone cut out a huge chunk of the middle

Controversial but 10 always has a special place in my heart and is probably my favorite. The thought of Jason in space is so insane in the best way he has some great kills in that too. A camp classic
Lord Gaga Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 2,4,6 and remake are the best of the Friday series but I do have a soft spot for 3 and Jason x im a fan

Repelex Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I'm gonna be a contrarian and be the only gay who did not enjoy Smile 2. I saw the ending coming from miles away after it was established she was a pop star and going on tour . Also, am thinking they're getting way too comfortable with the concept of "not everything you see is the truth". Feels like cheating and redundant after 2 whole movies about iT.
Repelex Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Separate post to say Alien: Romulus was a SLAY. Top 2 for the 2024's rate 1

The first three Friday movies make for a nice and memorable horror trilogy (Pamela, Sack Bag Jason, Classic Hockey Mask Jason). They do go steeply downhill after the third. Some of the laters' ideas, while ridiculous (telepathy, Jason's copycat, New York mayhem) do inspire fun, but nothing much concrete. Edited December 1, 2024 by Lemon 1

Hollywood. Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I know I am like years late, but finally wanted Incantation. Probably the most effective 'found-footage' film I've watched. So happy I went in completely blind too which made the experience better. Spoiler Also if that movie cursed me - oh well, I could use a little excitement anyways. 1 1
