I thoroughly enjoy it and it made me search about the conflicts between Japan and South Korea throughout history, as well as some of their old mythologies. And speaking of non-english horror, I saw MadS yesterday and it was fun. The first guy we follow is kind of annoying, but his girlfriend is a queen and acted her ass off
mellenthin Posted November 11 Posted November 11 15 hours ago, Reverse Warholian said: Seeing it Tuesday @mellenthin is it being distributed for a Kiribati release? The weekly local bottle post has not arrived yet, so there is no way to know for sure as of now. I'll keep you posted.

Excited to watch MadS too. --- Next on my list, A Quiet Place: First Day.
hypnodemiluv Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I watched a quiet place: first day and i think it's good. I just don't like that universe so much. 5.9/10
illia Posted November 11 Posted November 11 (edited) Some ppl are comparing Heretic to The Menu. Is this comparison valid? Because I loved The Menu so maybe I would enjoy Heretic Edited November 11 by illia
Cheers Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Still haven't bothered with Smile 2. I didn't like the first one at all

Lemon Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I definitely think The Substance did great job at being body psycho drama. It takes its time and uses it very glossily. The duality of vapid is great core and indirect exploration of old age perfectly continues from movie like X to something like this. I appreciate this wave of horror and thrillers movies dealing with existential human fear of getting old and expendable to the point it makes one dip into abyss. As for Alien: Romulus, I appreciate the pace and unfolding story, but it is more of the same, but it being more actioner and less suspenseful makes it a bit watered down. I do like new added element of terror during final stage of it all, but maybe it should have been explored earlier and/or more. What actually kind of positively surprised me is Terrifier 3. I am not fan of the splatter for the sake of it, but set pieces and concise dynamic in this one, though seen before many times, makes it a bit better than short and cheap first movie and overlong and overly ridiculous second one. It joints Halloween and Christmas nicely. 2
Tylerbv Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Heretic is weird. Great performances and an intriguing setup, but the ending falls apart a bit, and at some point it seems like an hour long exposition dump.
Anthinos Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Alien: Romulus was good. I liked the atmosphere and the characters. It's not necessarily a horror movie but I finally watched Coherence after it was constantly praised by the sci-fi community. I thought it was a really good movie. 1

I made the mistake of catching it in theatres though and hated that experience I think I'll appreciate the sequel more from home.

killer_rose Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Just saw Strange Darling and that's yet another chop for 2024. Good acting and interesting way to tell the story, other than that...mess the plot is beyond predictable and terrible ending as usual.
