skankle Posted October 20 Posted October 20 My gay husband and I were drunk yesterday evening and went to watch Terrifier 3 for a second time. This is in fact the first time I've ever seen a movie twice in theatres, and I can now confirm my view of Terrifier 3 as a timeless masterpiece. 3 1 1
Into The Void Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Began Strange Darling last night gonna say didn't really like it
Repelex Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Watched Longlegs last night and was so creeped out in the beginning I had to turn on the lights But after a few minutes the atmosphere settled and I was immersed by it. Overall enjoyed it, although I still feel like I some things were not finished in regards to certain characters and I still need to know what happens next to them. 1
Heldenzeit Posted October 20 Posted October 20 2024 hasn't delivered a truly great horror classique for me
killer_rose Posted October 20 Posted October 20 TerriFIRE 3 to no one's surprise delivered a horror slasher classic. A franchise that does NOT take itself seriously and winning with that. Art the Clown ate all of your faves up! 4

I get that, they are truly excessive and extremely bloody. I would say the overall tone isn't really actually scary, it's much more campy and goofy. I'd be interested to hear in what the goriest movie you've seen was and how much "worse" this franchise is compared to that.
Julianna Calm Down Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Caddo Lake Speak No Evil (US) Run Sweetheart Run Goodnight Mommy (US) The Substance Strange Darling oddity Wowwowwow, piles of garbage everywhere. Caddo Lake twist blew my mind but the whole movie was mid overall. Speak No Evil, the US version, didn't have to be made because the OG was superior on all parts. Father McAvoy slays nonetheless. Goodnight Mommy was not it, because it was too obvious and didn't make any sense at all. Strange Darling was boring and the twist was OBviOuSs. Makes no sense whatsoever to tell a story in such a fragmented way, unless your main objective is to take the suspense out of it from the get go. Run Sweetheart Run kinda had me shook at times even though it was a bit cringe in parts. Liked it overall, it was cute. The Substance wasn't scary but it was a wild ride. Enjoyed it for what it was, which was decent enough but not a masterpiece by any means. Have considered to watch Terrifier 3, but haven't seen any of the previous movies. Not a fan of gore for the pure sake of gore. So might give it a skip. Oddity was okay, had some nice moments but wasn't amazing. Also watched Longlegs and that was a dud and a half, I was so disappointed and angry at how subpar it was. I'm so sad at the overall low quality of horror productions, what bugs me is that everything is so MID. Nothing grips you or excites you. The best of the movies above is RSR imo which really is saying by something. Last two things I watched that had me shooketh was the original Speak No Evil and Soft & Quiet. Now I'm desperately trying to find a film that can conjure up that feeling inside me.

hypnodemiluv Posted October 21 Posted October 21 (edited) Smile 2 had a chance to become smash horror but the plot misses some points to me. It wasn't enough to keep me engaged. It wasn't bad for sure. 5.5/10 Edited October 21 by hypnodemiluv mistake

I think there's plenty of gore in different capacities in all the movies I watch (like for example, just watched maxxxine which had some gore I didn't have an issue with). I think maybe the question I'll ask is how does this compare to other torture movies, like Saw? Had no problem with any of the Saw franchise besides being a little squeemish which is kind of the fun of it anyways.

You're asking the right person because the Saw franchise is my special interest lmao. I'd say the least brutal deaths in Terrifier compare to the more brutal moments in Saw well. So it's quite a bit more bloody. While Saw definitely loves its gore, the Terrifier franchise are splatter movies. Based on what you said i think you might not enjoy watching them tbh.
