Lemon Posted March 17 Posted March 17 (edited) I thought Stopmotion wouldn’t be able to live up to the psychological dread and terror, but I have enjoyed it. This is basically new May, which also means it belongs to the universe where Pearl, The Stylist, Saint Maud, Influencer ( can’t believe we got another iconic neck scene ) reside as well. I pretty much like the build up of the main character - stop motion animator ( stop motion being terror context of the whole story is pretty fit, cool and fresh too ). Every piece of the movie was in function of its ending, which, fortunately, came full circle and the circle is brazen and frenzy enough I would say. “The best artists always put themselves into their work”, quote of the 2024’s horror so far. I think we have few good entries so far - Out of Darkness, Monolith, Seeding and Stopmotion. All suitable for being rewatched and spooked all over again. I guess pandemic did shake up terror creators and we love that. Bringing visceral catharsis this decade like there is no tomorrow.

Into The Void Posted March 17 Posted March 17 (edited) Which is better. Sinister or Insidious? I'm looking for slashers or supernatural horror Edited March 17 by Into The Void

Bimbo Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I saw so many lashings for The Exorcist: Believer for so long that my expectations were on the floor and now that I’ve watched it I didn’t think it was THAT bad A mess to have done a full-body prosthetic demon only to show 0.2 seconds of it and just a boob and half a face tho

I was mostly thinking "they really revived The Exorcist IP just for this? ok"
Jay L Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Evil Dead will be included the Slashers rate too right? @genetic fail The Book Of The Dead/Necronomicon is an iconic killer

Halloween (13 films) Friday the 13th (12 films) A Nightmare on Elm Street (9 films) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (9 films) Child's Play (8 films) Evil Dead (5 films) Scream (6 films) I Know What You Did Last Summer (3 films) Final Destination (5 films) Saw (10 films) For a total of 80 films. Do yall think people will be down for it? These ******* couldn't even submit for the A24TRL rate and that was only like 20 films 1

But all these horror movies are core of the genre and have been regarded in many ways for decades, so I think majority of these movies had been watched. Even the most obscure Halloween or Child's Play movie got more attention than False Positive or Woodschock, for example. Also, the last and freshest slasher franchise aka X will be missed from the rate?
The Man Who Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Has anybody watched Crimes of the Future? Somebody I work with told me to watch it but after watching the trailer I feel violated.

It has cool premise, but it feels dull and dystopian, but not in a compelling way.

Might have to give like 5 months between the announcement and the rate though knowing how long it takes for some

Lemon Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) 1 hour ago, genetic fail said: But summer will be over once that's out It won't be. The rate can be hosted in August ( like the last month of summer calendary speaking as in 22nd of August - 22nd of September ) and results just before October ( very end of summer and start of spooky season ). I suppose MaXXXine will be available on streaming two months after being shown in cinemas for those ( us ) who wouldn't be able to watch it there since I am not sure how and will it be internationally distributed ( or at least right away - Talk to Me has been screened over here in October/November ). Going by Talk to Me's summer release of 28th of July and it being available on streaming on the 12th of September indicates Maxine should be having similar release trajectory. Lemon solves.
