Maybe it’ll be more clear when another trailer comes out, but the description is throwing me off because it’s making out like it’s just the pool that’s haunted, so surely you’d just not go into it anymore? :deadbanana:

Whereas when it’s part of the house that’s haunted, it normally impacts the entire house which gives the writers more room to work with.

The movie is based on this short movie and as you will see from watching, nothing happens outside of the pool, so I’m just intrigued to see how they’re going to expand and turn it feature length as it just feels extremely limited but they could surprise me.

I think that if there is a valid idea for a full movie they can make it work even if it's located entirely in a pool, the main characters likely won't realize it immediately, we'll see, it's not easy but doable.

Any of y’all seen Meander or Nine Dead? Both were recommended to me and idk which one to watch tomorrow.

Meander is actually pretty good. One of the 2021’s highlights for me. It is pretty tense and claustrophobic. I would also recommend it.

Halloween will always be heralded as one of the best horror movies simply because it has established slasher foundations and found its way to the mainstream success and fame. Michael Myers is a legendary horror figure after all.
But we had Black Christmas and slew of slashers with Dario Argento before Halloween, so there is that. Also, it definitely is showing its age and I wouldn’t be surprised that historical importance of being at right place and right time will be only viable characteristic of the movie in the future.

Halloween (1978) was probably great at the time, but its kind of mid tbh. michael myers is unintentionally funny

I definitely don’t agree with this. I think it’s held up extremely well due to its simplistic nature and the fact it didn’t rely on any special effects that now look dated. I’m a sucker for ‘simple’ horror and I still find the shots of his silhouette chilling. The scenes where Tommy looks out of the window to see him across the street and when Michael appears from behind the car are still so impactful.

I don’t like anthologies that much and these movies are basically few of non-connected short horror films put together.
However, some of those shorts contain interesting themes explored ( such as girl being buried alive for certain amount of time as part of sorority’s initiation ).

I would recommend watching films never seen before rather than something we have watched enough already, especially Friday the 13th, which loses its grip after part 3. :foxaylove2:

It definitely sets creepy atmosphere demonstrating how suburbia can become dangerous out of blue. But this is all thanks to Michael and film’s score. When you play Halloween to someone who has already watched this kind of movie, you can’t expect them to be in awe or impacted the way society was back then, but that’s understandable.
Ultimately, movie does suffer from not having enough strong characters ( aside from the central trio ) and too amorphous story.

I love rewatching horror movies, especially during October as I have ones that I must watch at least once a year. The Final Chapter and Jason Lives are actually my favourite entries in the franchise.

My top 3:

1. The Final Chapter

2. Jason Lives

3. Part III

I’ve seen a lot of horror movies over the years but whenever I rewatch Halloween (1978) I still find it as chilling as I did when I first watched it. Everything from the score to the cinematography is just perfect to me.  I don’t really find many horror movies creepy, I normally just find them fun, but I find Halloween (1978) and The Blair Witch Project creepy because most of it is psychological such as never actually seeing the witch or catching glimpses of Myers lurking in the shadows. Everybody has their own personal preference, but Halloween (1978) will always be my ultimate slasher flick.

To each their own. If I watch Scream 1 It's full of tension but Halloween seems boring and mid in comparison

OG Halloween is **** sorry. The most overrated of all classic horror maybe? Luckily Rob Zombie came around and made something good out of the series.

OG 'Halloween' is a milestone-masterpiece of Horror movies, but obviously you have to take in consideration when it was release, for the time it was amazing, slasher movies weren't a thing in the mainstream yet, it's obvious that 40 years later with an oversaturation of horror movies in the last 25 years watching it now it seems lame, that's an issue with majority of horror movies, very rare can stand the test of time, also because what was scary back in the day now it's nothing with all the gore we're used to.

Honestly Ari Aster will never be capable to deliver a masterpiece like 'Godlignant', Wan will always have him washed

Texas Chainsaw Massacre aged like a fine wine. Alien aged like a fine wine. Wicked Man aged like a fine wine. Don't Look Now aged well. Suspiria aged well. The Exorcist aged well. Tell me, why is Halloween the only 70 classic to age like milk? I'd argue even the other slasher predecessors like Black Christmas are better than it. I'll readily acknowledge it as influential but its children surpassed it several times over.
