Magickarp Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 The moment when we all collectively realized how Temple Of Sinnoh became Spear Pillar I had literal goosebumps. PLA could've only been made by a real fan. Oh depends if u updated n I liked exploring Hisui more. Both maps are barren but it makes more sense in ancient Hisui. The towns in SV are soulless. SV felt smaller to me as well since the crater was not accessible until the end of the game and takes up a good chunk of the map. I wish the map was a bit bigger. I just beat the game though so maybe I will switch when I get to explore Area Zero more.
Jynx Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I've been doing 6 star raids with eviolite Chansey and winning against all the special attackers(except for a stray BlTCH Magnezone ). I just sit back and spam life dew, light screen, body slam for para and also use helping hand on the Iron Hands/other attackers for increased damage.
BambiStar Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Man I really need to play this! Only done 2 Gyms/2 Titans and haven't picked it up since last Wednesday Armarouge showing out Team Violet obviously, but I always knew she was that girl
BambiStar Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Didn't know Kingambit was double cheeked up under her 22 inches
J-esper Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I wish Area Zero was a bit more exciting to explore. I get what the area is, I get the story, but since the whole game featured so much emptiness when it comes to building and characters beside the main ones, an other explorable area where basically nothing happens after you do the story bit feels a bit anti-climatic

Oh depends if u updated n Size-wise Paldea STOMPS on Hisui easily. However, exploration in Hisui felt better because you were also "forced" to collect items to build pokeballs and other stuff that was useful. In Paldea, you only explore to catch Pokemon. You get items too, yeah, but they don't really affect or have any purpose as big as in PLA. I see that they tried to pull a PLA with TMs but since you can easily get any TM without making one yourself, it feels pointless. Design-wise is another thing. There are some areas in PLA that are designed so much better than in Paldea. The snow area in PLA stomps on Paldea's one. However, Paldea is still bigger and more complex. You get bored of PLA's areas (at least I did) because they end up feeling small after a few hours. More than 70 hours in and I'm still discovering new places in Paldea.
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted December 6, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 6, 2022 Can someone explain why they had to do the Charizard raids so quickly and close to release welp, hoping more content is coming. Onto the post-game! They really made me feel some things with Arven and whatnot. Side note, if y'all aren't on TikTok I suggest watching some of the Pokemon videos on there because they are hilarious
Haze Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 While I felt like they could've gone even further with Hisui, the way each area felt so distinct from each other made it feel more expansive to me. There's imo very little reasons to explore the nooks and crannies of Paldea, while PLA had such a satisfying game loop of catching, crafting and exploring. I think if they had integrated the improvements of PLA in this game, it would've been a home run. Now it feels like a step back in some respects. Also I know not everyone agrees with me here, but imo a cell shaded artstyle fits Pokémon better than the weird hybrid realism they went for now. In general i think my experience of Paldea was marred by trying to do everything in the correct order. If there was level scaling, the exploring would've been a blast. Now I often felt like I was in the wrong area.
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Arven kind of ate me up the first time cause I thought I could just wing the fight lmao

UnusualBoy Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I know competitive is relatively new this gen but I wonder how things will shake up once Home gets released because many staples from vgc and singles (Smogon) are there like the genies, Greninja, Zapdos, the lati twins, Rillaboon, Cinderace, the Tapus and the Hisuian pokemon in their first main game like Ursaluna, H-Zoroark, H-Lilligant. I'm also intrigated about how well the SV legendaries will do against the other box legendaries, Necrozma and Calyrex will the best kings since Yveltal is out and Zacian may not that broken anymore with the nerf in his ability.

I just figured exploring would be better once everything was complete so I just stayed completing all the objectives I could. Maybe if I get Scarlet I'll do it differently

Honestly PLA is my everything Anywho I just did the Area Zero thing and while the music and story is good, I'm left feeling underwhelmed now that I've realised I vastly prefer the future paradox mons. Ain't nobody waiting around for prehistoric Amoongus and Jigglypuff.. Hopefully I can find Roaring Moon soon Edited December 6, 2022 by Dark Miracles
Rigalo Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) Finally started digging in the last few days, I loved Cortondo as the first gym city and making my way to the rock Titan now. I’m running a 12 Pokémon Team because I can never make up my mind and I already have half my mons Crocalor - Lechonk - Wooper (P) - Gimmighoul - Maschiff - Nacli - Smoliv 1/18 Edited December 6, 2022 by Rigalo
TaggedGalaxy Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I already have 120 hours in Violet More than I put into PLA and I did everything in PLA

Now I often felt like I was in the wrong area. Yuh 100% SV's lack of level scaling ruined the exploration for me too. I'm so on the fence abt the artstyle, at first i thought i loved SV's brighter colors much more, but then i go back to PLA & think it has its merits too. SV easily has better trees, & water, while PLA's UI stomp stomp stomps. Visually, there are things i like from each game so it's hard to decide.
Jessie Mulay Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I played PLA one week before SV came out and the enemy Pokemon always attacking twice before I get my first attack was absolutely infuriating
SashaDevachelli Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I’ve been struggling with 4 star raids let alone 6, idk how on earth I’m gonna do them Just finished the Elite 4, Larry is an icon

I've been playing Scarlet and PL:A for the first time back to back for the last couple of days and I fight PLA so empty and almost demo-like when you compare it to Scarlet. I feel motivated to explore every once bit of the Paldea region and revisit every zone everytime I unlock new powers on Koraidon. About level scale it sucks there isn't one. When I started exploring the region i went to the left and beat the rock titans and since i was nearby I also beat the gyms around there, so when i had to go beat the grass and bug gyms i felt underwhelmed cause they were almost 20 levels under my mons I do agree with you that the artstyle of PLA is better and I also think the user interface during battles
FOCK Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Ranked made me kinda hate the tera mechanic & I’ve had little interest in picking up the game, completing the dex or even catching the legendaries since.
artc0cx Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I almost done with the Dex i just need to find a Dolphinman and the 4 Dark Legendaries
