If i were to alter the gimmick... Crystalization allows 1-time use Primary Type change. Crystallisation occurs at the start of turn, like Megas. User remains that type throughout switching. Yeah, the leaks are just very vague. I'm not quite sure whether it's the intention of the leakers to be so unclear but The leaks are making me less excited tbh and it doesn't help that Gamefreak/TPC refuses to release another trailer.

My understanding is that they're serving Bouffalant & Tauros, or the elemental monkeys. They're the "same" Pokemon or share an ancestry essentially, but have undergone divergent evolution to fulfil a different need/adapt to their environment. I don't understand why they can't just be regionals and why they need to take up a Pokedex slot of their own. I'm sure it's just a translation thing with the leakers and they're not actually called "rfakes", I really hate that term too. I've made some sense of it by assuming its the leakers attempt to describe "a regional, but not quite". It also seems like they'll be playing roles in the overworld, like Diglett being a water geyser. Maybe the "fake" element is that it uses a Diglett appearance as a disguise, but shoots out into something clearly different on approach/in battle, essentially, a "fake out", or like Voltorb hiding as a Pokeball. I dunno. The real answer is probably much simpler than all of this.
