Someone on Reddit said G*meF*e*k coded it so the battles are capped at 300 for some reason and if you go over it won't register new battles as completed. It only doesn't affect story battles.

Thanks for the info! I also battled one of the ogre clan trainers but that didnt register either so i hope it still registers as 1 of the 8 i have to battle
