So I'm only on the third gym leader and there is definitely some things to appreciate. I admire that they at least tried a little harder with the story this time, and I like that they invigorated certain elements like battles but I just think it lacks polish. The freaking zoom in every time you enter a building is maddening, the encounter rate (at least for me) seems very unbalanced, and the early Pokemon you have access to are lowkey terrible. I've had the most horrific time grinding because my mons are so weak with terrible move-sets. Thank god for my Pidove and Dewott though (whom I truly adore). We shall see how I feel as the game progresses. I'm also severely biased because I just finished replaying sapphire (GBA) which is one of, if not, my absolute favorite Pokemon games.
