ClashAndBurn Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Pokémon being tone deaf enough to announce that Worlds is going to be in Hawai’i next year is just… it’s too much for it to be real At least Joe Merrick is getting his deserved lashings

Jessie Mulay Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Hmm.. I guess they're waiting to reveal the way we catch Legendaries since DLC2 is still a bit away.. There's no way they would keep them to HOME only right? Also a bit disappointing that hope exclusive Tera Forms/Masks is dwindling..
Magickarp Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Just realised TWO Gen 5 starters are gonna be eating OU in a month

SlowGinFizzzz Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 The COO of The Pokémon Company kinda hinted at a less regular release schedule in the future "as the development environments change". I suppose the awful state in which Scarlet/Violet were released led to some serious discussions between them, Game Freak and Nintendo behind the scenes. Quote "I think in general, if you look at the past, the path we’ve taken up until now has been this constant release, always regularly releasing products on a fairly fixed kind of a cadence, you might say. Always having these products able to be introduced and new experiences for our customers, and that’s how we’ve operated up until now. I think we’re still operating in that way, but there’s more and more conversations, as the development environments change, about how we can continue to do this, while making sure that we’re ensuring really quality products are also being introduced.” https://www.nintendo-insider.com/the-pokemon-company-exploring-how-to-deliver-regular-quality-games/

With that said, can’t they just give legends to another developer or something, I don’t want any potential sequels to be delayed!
Magickarp Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Misleading, @ no point does he say they intend to slow down releases. In fact he reiterates that they are trying to keep the same release schedule, while "maintaining the quality". Just more PR speak. Maintaining SV's quality is sum It's fine if "Maintaining the quality" means actually hiring good developers, & not tenured Devs from 1997 who have not bothered to update their 2D skills & not letting directors who are stuck in old traditions direct a game 3 years is plenty to develop a game like Pokemon, the talent just sucks. 1
Magickarp Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Girl what the **** is this prize money VGC mattering the least VGC 1st place $10,000 USD GO 1st place $10,000 USD Unite 1st place $100,000 USD (split by 5 team members) TCG 1st place $25,000 USD Only 2 Paldean original mons (cannot be built on a previous design) made it to Worlds T10 & every T10 had 2nd place Michael Kelsch had the least generic team just cuz of Puta + Farig. He also only started playing VGC 8 months ago, unlike one time World Champion Wolfe Glick. He also won Smogon Tour 35 this year, & is also the #1 ranked RandBats player by a wide margin. imagine being so successful in 2 formats

That reddit user just phrased it that way for the upvotes.
poki Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 They will pronably reduce the scale of future releases. 8 to 6 gyms, ~20 new pokemon, ~10 routes 1 1
SLIME Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Tyranitar unranked on the OU viability thread while Abomasnow rises above him... RIP.

Yes, he obviously didn't outright say that they'll release less frequently, but reading between the lines a bit, that's definitely what I'm getting from his statement. Otherwise he wouldn't have stressed multiple times that that's the way they've been doing it "up until now" and "in the past". But yes, obviously that's just me trying to get something relevant out of PR speech and might turn out to be wrong. However, I think the much more interesting bit is what he said about the quality of the games. Again, he obviously won't outright admit that their last handful games have been sh*t, but I would say the fact that he even mentions the quality of their releases at all is very telling. Either way, I guess we'll see how the next few years are gonna play out. Personally I wouldn't care if they keep up the annual-ish releases as long as they hire a lot more (and more capable!) developers and stop working on too many projects at the same time like they do now. It's probably gonna be multiple measures rather than just one anyway. If nothing else, I'm cautiously optimistic that they are at the very least aware that something has to change or else their precious cash cow will be in serious danger in the long term. Ttar needs a good sand abuser without it he's basically lost especially with Tusk and Gambit out there. Thankfully Drill is coming with the DLC.

He's been taking nothing but punches these past two gens... Pursuit nerf, his bf Excadrill got poofed, general mismatch for Terra (wants to change his type but loses the Sandstorm benefits and immunity if he does)... The drop to RU is the most humiliating part. Edited August 15, 2023 by Subomie
Graves Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 These kids these days got NO respect! My man Tar was the ONLY thing holding Gen 5 OU together... We were in the trenches together on those rainy nights! 1

It can’t even take advantage of tera getting rid of its horrible type cause of Sand Stream. Unless you’re gonna use Unnerve Tyranitar.. but why would anyone do that
