Reviewers holding women to a different standard, what's new

 

 

Anw idc about framerates, I just need a TOTK hater to say this is nothing like it. (Which seems to be implied so far)

It's hard to compare critic scores between older and newer games especially for Zelda cause how in the world did Phantom Hourglass get a 90 back then Also Skyward Sword's 93 is funny in retrospect knowing that's the game that literally forced the series to reinvent itself

A lot of the reviews talk about how fun the game is, and then rate it 4/5 or 8/10. I have a feeling the performance is what's really knocking it down. I haven't played yet (I already preordered it and wanted my first time playing to be on my switch and count on my profile) but a LOT of reviews I've seen (from people who played the extended demo earlier this month) have all mentioned that the same performance issues Link's Awakening had is still present, which is both surprising and disappointing. Personally idgaf about graphic hiccups like that (I barely notice them in LA) BUT I get why people care and at this point they should have either waited for switch 2 or worked longer to fix it

no people are just fed up with the necrotic 8 year old console, so much so that it's rubbin off on a brand new Zelda title

The game was revealed just a few months ago, it's developed by a support studio, it doesn't have Link as protagonist, it's in 2D. I would say logic is my source.

This isn't a spin off  it has the Legend of Zelda tagline, and was developed in part by Nintendo.
 

Saying because it's 2D makes it not a mainline game means that the original Zelda, ALTTP, ALBW, OOA/OOS, and LA are all spinoffs

Sure some attacks look cool, but think of the big picture

Well the new Zelda has basically the same features they "introduced" in TOTK (ultrahand, weapon fusion, object manipulation, the "depths", etc.) but caricaturized…

 

If they were going to do the basic minimum they should have remade the Oracle games instead.

I feel like I live in a parallel world though, because A LOT of people are complaing about performance issues but I haven't noticed it a single time, and I'm about 4 hours in

If you have the online, just try it on the GBC Virtual Console for a bit and, if you like it, just wait and buy the remake sometime down the line since the physical version has definitely gone on sale before. IMO other 2D Zelda games are superior tho like the Oracle games which are also on the GBC VC. I initially wasn't a fan of the LA remake graphic style either, but it grew on me, mainly because it fits the game theme.

 

But either way, between LA and Echoes if you want one, go for Echoes since it's a new game. Maybe wait for reviews to come though tho idk.

Great ideas, thank you!! I would prob get  Echos with my voucher depending on how reviews go and wait for a sale/discount on LA
