I’m not gagging. Mario Bross is one of the biggest franchises ever and ofc universally loved by many people from all ages and different backgrounds 

 

when you have that audience you don’t care about reaching new ones

 

also, they didn’t care about awards and recognition because the movie is objectively bad from a narrative standpoint. so, Grace is right 

i was worried about Chris Patt but I guess the gp is ok with him 

 

This movie is about making $$$ with a bunch of endless references for the fans

Audiences nowadays want Easter eggs. Grace isn’t exactly wrong. Look at the Godawful Ghostbusters reboot that did well recently.

Her MM qualified Mario's achievements which is successful shade in and of itself. I thought it was the biggest domestic opening from headlines but it didn't beat I2 and the fact it only bested Frozen 2 bc of the extra days

Not gonna lie, I thought she would talk more about the critics vs. audience score thing with the way Mario fans were completely blasting critic reviews online.

 

But this was a solid MM though. The numbers don’t lie!

the follow up statement is even funnier when she said "but who cares!!!" like because it's a success nothing else (meaning her own previous opinion) matters.  

 

Imagine if she was covering music like this... anything successful (no matter it's quality and her own opinion) would be the best thing ever.
