The Challenge: Battle of the Eras | Episode Discussions

Nany and Leroy have been doing this for over a decade and no win in sight. If production really wanted them to win they'd give them a team challenge with all their friends and a bunch of flops.

this in spoilers

Miles, you literally have a spoiler saying there is ONE winner with no tags baby.

That's technically a spoiler of the format.

I'm always so tempted to open spoilers in this thread and sometimes I do lol but I won't today! Nany is still a loser AHA. Jordan could've done better against Bananas tbh, poor Aneesa.

I don't agree with the splitting money thing either come ******* on Tori and Devin.

The finals on the main show are coming down to one checkpoint and if you can endure the duration of the finale rather than a race from start to finish with everything in between being timed and calculated. :toofunny3: Aneesa could have just won the elimination (another dumb thing they keep adding), just survived the last part and could watched Jordan do all the blocks to victory. That's how lame this is getting.

Don't.

Recently caught my attention, plus I'd like to watch a reallity/competition show, but this has a lot of seasons.

Could someone recommend me their Top 5 seasons?

That's available on Paramount+? I think these will cover all the eras and shifts in the gameplay/casting then you can just watch everything in between later.

  • Season 10 (Inferno 2) - great starting point, big reality tv moments with Tonya, Beth, and the Mean Girls
  • Season 13 (The Duel) - intro to the Evan, Kenny, Johnny, Wes era
  • Season 20 (Cutthroat) - intro to Laurel and Cara Maria + a 3 team format never done before
  • Anything from Season 21-26 you can flip a coin or pick based on the titles that intrigues you. This was the Rivals and Exes themed eras that revamped the franchise. I think Exes 1 is basic af though so don't pick that. Rivals 2, Exes 2 or Free Agents are my personal picks because the replay value/quick seasons to get through.
  • Season 33 (War of the Worlds) - the last GREAT season of the 30s and last great group of Rookies that they spent time developing

I agree with MP2K, but also add Gauntlet 2. Besides the lackluster final it's a pretty solid season. If you like those seasons I recommend watching the All Stars series.

I'll tell you which seasons you can skip:

The Island

Bloodlines

Lies Spies and Allies

The Island truly tested me as a fan back in the day, what a dreadful season :skull: I was already checked out by Bloodlines so I never actually saw that one.... I guess for the better.

SLA is definitely bottom two of the thirties along with Total Madness. Those two season were especially annoying :deadbanana2:

I was gonna recommend just watching the ones they need in order to watch All Stars :dies:

I recently gave The Island a shot after years of not being interested in watching it.  It's fine, but nothing to write home about tbh.  It's such a shame that so much important stuff from that era happened or started there (e.g., the Paula thing, the Evelyn thing, the Kenny/Wes/Johanna thing, John finally becoming a main character, the peak of the cast's disgusting misogyny), because otherwise, I'd agree that it's totally skippable.

Tori being a champ before Kam is really repulsive. This show has fallen off badly :skull:

ALL STARS 4 SPOILERS BELOW M(F)AGGOTS. DO NOT READ IF UNSPOILED

So Cara Maria eliminated Kam

:jonny:

If Laurel really went into this season, went into NO eliminations, and was given and/or maintained her star.....

Cara taking her title of elimination queen back from that flop. 15/6 wins.

Not Tori claiming to be vegan but eating yogurt and chicken nuggets in the house. :toofunny3:

Bring back Amber B. We all know they are going to milk this 100 hour final for 3 episodes.

Nnnn I hate you bc I watched that thinking there was tea as to why the actually hate amber!

tbh, she does seem a little like she “puts on”, but I think that just really might be her personality. Like Jan on Drag Race. Ru hated her and told her to be real, but I just think Jan is like Amber- peppy, upbeat, and cheery

A couple thoughts after the most recent episode:

1. I hated Olivia on Love Island and I thought she was a horrible casting decision for this when she was announced.  I'm very happy to be proven wrong.  It's so great to see a female rookie with a massive heart, brawns, and brains.  And she was able to carry an actual storyline.  I feel like she's the successor to Georgia (who I still want back).  Seeing her persevere through her first injury and then still trying to continue after her second injury was awesome.  That was the most heartfelt sequence of the whole show: Olivia with blood streaming down her face trying to fight through it, Horacio trying to help her.  Then Horacio begging to be able to continue "I'll do double work!" and the producer coming out to hug him.  Gutwrenching.

If they aren't back next season, MTV is truly done forever.  The producers are ******* brain-dead as we're all very aware, but you would have to have negative IQ to not bring back Olivia and Horacio next season.

Also, major MAJOR props to Olivia for doing the confessional afterwards with all the bruising.  She didn't have to do that, and it was so badass and inspiring.  She looked like a ******* warrior :clap3:

2. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, it's INSANE that this dumbass show continues to allow multiple major injuries to happen every ******* season.  Why weren't the contestants given safety gear, like goggles at the VERY least?  Why were they shooting golf balls instead of, say, bean bags or paintballs?  It's not fun to watch people get injured and it's not fun to see our faves DQed because of production's ineptitude.  Also, all these injuries don't make the show any more "hardcore."  They just serve to make production's stupidity even more apparent.

It's a miracle no one has died on this show yet.  It would not surprise me in the SLIGHTEST if that happens in the near future, and that would be tragic.

3. This season is officially trash.  There's no way Jordan can drag Big Neesa to a victory, so we are going to have two awful winners no matter what :pukey:

4. Next season better be individual or teams all the way through.

I totally agree with all of this- except I never watched Love island so I didn’t know Olivia.

But yes - it almost seems like production thinks the injuries make the show more “hardcore” when it really makes it seem irresponsible and totally kills the buzz when a great rookie team gets to the final, defying all production Vet Pet riggory odds, and goes home bc of horrible ******* safety measures!

Tori/Devin definitely deserved the win over the other two couples, so happy for them I guess. I really thought Banany were going to win though. Nany put on her greatest showing ever this season, but she always fumbles the bag at the very end. :rip:

This was one of the worst finals of all time. It was a massive slog to get through, had a major safety issue (Olivia easily could've been blinded), the setting was so blah and drab to look at, and like the first 80 of the 100 hours ended up not really mattering at all. Just awful all around. The only thing I liked was the cinder block puzzle, but that should've been the very last task.

Production wasting all that money on their stupid light-up corn maze :rip:

~hArDeSt FiNaL eVeR~

Oh yes, the corn maze was gorgeous but seemed like mostly just window dressing. It ended up having no competitive impact, much like 90% of this final.

The tea is there is no tea and they are just haters. I think she is genuinely a nice person.

And it's funny that everyone thinks she's fake when they come on the show season after season just to manufacture their own story lines
