You can decidedly wear a mask if you want, but many wont. You can't stay locked up for years, and years, it doesn't solve any issues. People have the ability to help themselves now, and they if they decide not to, there isn't much more you can do. The point is, Biden said Trump should resign over a fifth of the deaths that occurred under his own presidency and called him a disgrace to the office for it. Obviously he doesn’t hold himself to that same standard.

What has been available is irrelevant given that continued booster shots are necessary. Edited January 25, 2023 by Communion
Vermillion Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 22 minutes ago, Lose My Breath said: They have been available in the US for years now, to anyone who wants one, for free That's no longer going to be true starting in April when the emergency declaration ends. Those without any insurance (including Medicaid) will have to pay $130 per Moderna or Pfizer shot. Meaning further spread, which means further variants. Which renders all previous gains moot, including new vaccine developments. Only ONE antibody left works against the latest BA2 variant, bebtelovimab. Paxlovid basically isn't effective either. So tens of millions of us, rich and poor, will all be back in the same boat. And NOT just for death either, but Long Covid, which no one's talking about.
Vermillion Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 @Lose My Breath I made an entire thread on this so it wouldn't get lost in the sticky here, because people don't realize what's coming. It's a huge problem. I'll bump that one too though.

Obviously he doesn’t hold himself to that same standard. You're completely missing the point. Trump actively discouraged vaccines and aided in the politicization of treatments and vaccines which caused MANY unnecessary deaths (and distrust to be frank). Not even a tiny bit comparable to how Biden has handled covid.
ClashAndBurn Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 5 hours ago, on the line said: Trump actively discouraged vaccines He literally did not. This is a malicious lie. Trump promoted Operation Warpspeed specifically to roll out vaccines faster. The vaccine companies actually held back news that the vaccines were ready until the election was over so that he wouldn’t get an electoral boost. Trump was problematic on COVID and wanted to rush to a new normal. That included wanting to get rid of social distancing and masking, yes, but also promoting vaccines. In fact, Trump was only one of a few Republicans that has never been anti-vax, even at risk of pushback and being booed at by his base. Criticize his response all you want, but don’t be an intellectually dishonest liar while doing so.

Eateries still have plastic boards to separate different groups. Some hotels still try to stagger the times when guests may eat breakfast. Almost everyone uses the disosable gloves provided to take their good from the buffet table.

Who was prepared to suffer disruption and inconvenience for the sake of others, and who was not? The answer was often surprising. I can think, for instance, of five prominent environmentalists who denounced lockdowns, vaccines and even masks as intolerable intrusions on our liberties, while proposing no meaningful measures to prevent transmission of the virus. Four of them became active spreaders of disinformation. If environmentalism means anything, it’s that our damaging gratifications should take second place to the interests of others. Yet these people immediately failed the test, placing their own convenience above the health and lives of others. imagine being an environmentalist and yet still shamelessly promote COVID disinformation.
