It was decided based on feedback from the spring 2023 town hall to transition this thread back to being election specific. With the Civics section being able to house specific threads on many issues, we think having a generalized politics thread is not completely necessarily anymore. 
 

With that said, please continue to be respectful and remember that you do not always need to respond to everyone.

I imagine the polling is going to be horrific for the next few weeks. Democrats are super demotivated right now, even more so than before the debate.

Well it is. Biden can't change this ruling. He can trash it and who knows maybe play with in the ruling himself 🤷

I'm feeling so despondent rn about the state of America. Even if it isn't this November, even if it isn't Trump; it's a matter of when, not if, a megalomaniac autocrat takes the office without any checks and balances because of this ruling. The justices that made this decision can't be held accountable either. The right continues to organize and the democrats refuse to get aggressive.

Biden won those states by about a point in 2020(if you total all 7 of those states and average the vote share). If the Sunbelt really is swinging hard towards Republicans while Biden holds steady in the Midwest, he'd probably end up losing the total swing state vote but still win. That said, campaign internal polls are usually biased so not a great sign. :gaycat6:

November is still eons away in political timeline. The polls might give us a snapshot what a subset of voters are thinking now but people only really started thinking about the election starting with the debate.  There is reason to freak out in a "we need a strategy" way but not in any tangible way that Trump has already won. There is so much time between now and then. Dems need to regroup, but Trump isn't a shoo in
