Obama is the only person that would be able to convince him.Β Β Ironically, the Democratic Party's primary has a thing called "super delegates". These are party higher-ups that help decide who should be the candidate without any need to be based on voters. The DNC argues they exist in the case of an emergency, like this current scenario. But, the Democratic Party didΒ suchΒ an effective job at rigging the primary process to nominate the next candidate (e.g., shutting down primary elections altogether in some states and refusing to allow a debate) that Biden has enough pledged delegates that the super delegates do not make a difference. They could all switch to another candidate and Biden would still be the nominee. What's funny is the the Obamas are nowhere near for this election. That's all anyone needed to see to know that Biden was not fit. I want to know who is really pushing Biden to run.
karron0624 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 The fact that Barret of all people is coming off as the most moderate conservative justice on the SC is the biggest shock to me. I would have thought it was going to be Kavanaugh. But the way Barret is fighting with Alito and Thomas on every opinion is wild.
Vermillion Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Seeing all these piss poor Obama v. Romney 1st debate comparisons re: Dem operative response online. They're not even close scenarios. Β Β

PoisonPill Posted June 28 Posted June 28 At this point, I don't think there will even be a second debate. Biden's campaign can't risk putting him onΒ stage again and will be spending the rest of the summer trying to repair the damage from last night. And Trump has no reason to show up to another debate, he was just given the biggest gift imaginable by his opponent.Β
Vermillion Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I suppose this was inevitable but I doubt it'll get much traction in the House other than the Freedom CaucusΒ Β Β Β

The idea of getting another easy headline win, or being able to call Biden a coward for not wanting a second debate. It would be a win-win either way if he pushed heavy for a second one
cloudbusting Posted June 28 Posted June 28 it'll pass eventually, but god those decisions this morning made me so nauseous. totally unsurprising, but disappointing all the same 1

ZeroSuitBritney Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Β Quote Trump's chance of winning November's presidential election now at new high at around 55%, according to RCP data President Joe Biden's chances of winning this year's White House race appear to have tumbled in the wake of his widely panned performance in Thursday night's debate against presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri was among Biden's critics, as she made this point to MSNBC: "He had one thing he had to accomplish, and that was reassure America that he was up to the job at his age, and he failed at that." The 81-year-old Democratic president now has a 19% chance of being re-elected in November, according to an average of betting markets provided by RealClearPolitics. As shown in the chart above, that's down from 36% Wednesday and is the lowest level so far in RCP's data, which goes back to January 2023. Trump's chance of winning this November's election has risen to 55%, up from 52% on Wednesday and a new high, according to the betting markets tracked by RCP. https://www.morningstar.com/news/marketwatch/20240628296/debate-aftermath-betting-markets-put-bidens-chance-of-re-election-at-new-low-while-newsom-gains Β https://www.realclearpolling.com/betting-odds/2024/president 1
Hex Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I hate this country. I really do lol. Β Trump spewing absolute nonsense and buzzwords. But of course all the public (and seemingly ATRL) will care about was Biden sounding rough. Cleary he has some cold at the moment. What he was saying was mostly totally sound. Some of you seem to genuinely WANT Trump in office which is absolutely abhorrent, just to make a point that Biden has been a failure. One is a bad option, the other is absolutely dangerous to our country... shouldn't be a hard decision. 1 1
