And so it begins. The 2nd recent major straw poll had DeSantis in the lead by a point or two I think.

Embarrassing. They are SUCH hypocrites.

It's because they don't actually care (FLINT TEAS), they're just disingenuously doing it for political clout

There's no worse example of American exceptionalism than deciding that somehow two countries that largely have no impact on the day-to-day realities of Americans are at-fault for the daily woes of America.

How would America using its imperialist powers to sanction and lower the quality of life in China erase student debt in America? Give all Americans universal healthcare?

Well, I think Russia is a physical threat to the entire western world due to its continued aggressiveness towards neighboring countries, but obviously the actual deadly threat is mostly on Europe. Though Russia does have a troll-factory in St. Petersburg and those people can influence Americans on many different online platforms.

And then we could go into how many jobs have been displaced from the US and moved to China. That is be a woe to the people Americans who are jobless now but would have a job if there were more production lines in America again. It's not really China's fault though, more like corporate greed.

The best way that the US could pull away from China as a financial superpower would be to invest in automation even more than it already has. That would bring the production efficiency way up, squashing production costs, so there would not be need for cheap Chinese labor anymore, as robots replace the workers. That would displace American workers too, but the government could reap the benefits by taxing the corporations more, as they make record profits. That way the government could afford to forgive student debt and M4A, though it already can but even more then. It's not about sanctioning the Chinese or lowering their quality of life, it's just the next industrial revolution. The robots would still be made in China, so there would be that kinda financial benefit for them too, initially.

Omg, she is AWESOME. She should speak on The Hill more often!

Her Op-Ed, O H W O W. An amazing read (literally ?)

"But many weren’t voting for Biden; they were voting against Trump. Remember, Biden unsuccessfully ran for president twice. He was never our first choice, and people wanted real systemic change.

Instead of moving farther left and in keeping with the heavily peddled lie that “defund the police cost Democrats in the last election,” Biden proposed giving $350 billion to “refund the police” at a time when 1) America already spends $205 billion on policing; 2) police were never defunded; and 3) police shot and killed 1,045 people last year. He’s faltered on even his most popular campaign promises, like protecting voting rights and forgiving student loan debt. He didn’t even quite honor his promise to send out $2,000 stimulus checks once he was elected."

He would get slaughtered by Kamala or Pete? Doesn’t seem likely…

The Republican primary will come down to Trump or DeSantis, even with Tom Cotton or Mike Pompeo's posturing.

Either Trump or DeSantis will annihilate Kamala or Pete if Biden decides not to run, dies, or gets Alzheimers/dementia.

The hypothetical of either Trump or DeSantis not making it to the nomination isn't worth the energy to debate, imho.

But, if folks here want to insist that we do, black turnout in cities in states in the Upper Midwest (which is all elections come down to) is drastically overhyped for Kamala and would be non-existent for Pete (and not due to the default stereotype of homophobia within the black community either as several black gay pundits have pointed out) and blue-collar whites will value cultural resentment over their economic well-being when given a choice, every time (that's borne out by the polling and long-term studies from PRRI).

Josh Hawley would easily win over Biden, Kamala, or Pete, no contest. It's pretty fascism the white wine moms would fall for.

Mike Pompeo may lose against a more cogent Biden but would win against Kamala or Pete, and not just because he's a white guy.

Tom Cotton and Ted Cruz are the wild-cards here I have a hard time picturing winning the primary in 2024 for their gross personalities. 2028 would be a different story.

Then of course there's the Bernie wild-card which if Biden drops out folks here swear is the only person that could win when we're all aware of the oppo-dumps the Rethugs would unleash but we don't know the impact it'd have on the existing electorate, which may be cancelled out by increasing turn-out from low turn-out voters but that theory hasn't been tested enough to even see if it'd work. Bernie certainly has a better shot with the Upper Midwest than the majority the Dems have to offer if Biden drops out, but the DNC won't let him get the nom - they'll give it to either Kamala or Pete, both of whom will lose handily.
