Thuggin Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago ย Sometimes I really hate being in tech. Because why are the tech overlords so cartoonishly evil? ย Wonder what the American people who demand small government while constantly shrieking about "1984" will say about this? ย 25 years into this century and we've had basically no major tech legislation in decades. If Democrats were useful at all they'd rail against AI mass surveillance and Elon brain chipsย ย ย 3 2

But when Trump sells **** that benefits him directly while he is the sitting president, they don't say anything. We really are cooked as a country. Trump is above the law. I wonder if the Supreme Court will actually deny any of his executive orders. If they let him override the constitution and remove birthright citizenship, we truly are in a dictatorship. The optics are going to be even worse when he replaces Alito and Thomas, a literal 5 seat majority of Trump appointed justicesย 1 3

The counterpoint here is that most brain rot liberals screech endlessly about Trump and did not care one bit about Hunter Biden's influence-peddling nor Nancy Pelosi's insider trading. ย If there was any ideological consistency then maybe there would be a point to be had here. But when the response is "BUT TRUMP!" as a deflection for objectively bad behavior, then you're just going to get unpunished corruption from both sides. ย In a just world, Pelosi would be in jail for life. Instead she is exerting influence even outside of leadership and making sure that the Democrats remain a gerontocracy. 3

19SLAYty9 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago These 2028 Republican hopefuls are so stupid. Why did they all join his cabinet? Realistically, all of them will be fired within the next 4 years and their careers done.ย

Idk, democrats were immediately willing to give up Cuomo and Menendez for their corruption. Whileย Paxton is still the attorney general of Texas.ย ย Obviously there is corruption on both sides. But you don't feel like Trump's corruption is openly excessive? And that Republicans should call him out for it? Comparing Pelosi owning stock, which is currently legal, to Trump trying to end a constitutional right through executive order seems like comparing apples to grenades. Republicans did push back on Trump during his first administration, but this time around they aren't even willing to disagree with himย 2 1

It's no longer social media but Elon's personal republican playhouseย For months I've requested Bluesky links on HQ to no response because they're dealing with bigger problems such as no response from Invision regarding a forum reboot. There's been delays for Reddit from stories broken on X and Bluesky up to several hours. ย But now that I have a mod openly questioning my intentions here and accusing me of spreading misinformation despite it just being an observation from Rand Paul, shared by AOC, and they've both lied on numerous issues so it comes down to who's worse - all this despite still working with a mod that spread misinfo during Covid - I don't really care what happens. I'm going to keep doing my thing in good faith and keep it moving even if this place becomes the Wild West. 3 3

Republicans did push back on Trump during his first administration, but this time around they aren't even willing to disagree with himย Cuomo and Menendez were both long, drawn-out battles. Cuellar has been under indictment for ties to Azerbaijan and there's been nothing but crickets on that front. ย Merrick Garland obviously didn't agree that Trump was corrupt, or criminal in any way. If he did, he wouldn't have laid off of him for well over a year and a half, only deciding to wade into the waters when it was literally politically untenable for him to continue doing absolutely nothing. Democrats have shown very clearly they don't believe Trump is the corrupt threat they say he is during campaign season. ย DEMOCRATS aren't willing to disagree with him either. The Laken Riley Act passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. Marco Rubio was confirmed 99-0 while War Criminal Blinken (who would go on to oversee and cheerlead the worst genocide the American government has had involvement with since the Trail of Tears) had over 20 Nay votes. Pretty much every Trump cabinet appointee will have Fetterman's support too, and now liberals are pontificating about how we need more Fettermans willing to buck the party establishment TO SUPPORT REPUBLICAN POSITIONS in the Senate. They're not even pretending to resist anymore. They're literally rolling over and playing dead. ย Who was comparing Pelosi's stock trading to Trump wanting to end Birthright Citizenship? Certainly not me. The analog here would most definitely be Martha Stewart, who was sent to jail for doing literally what Pelosi gets away with doing until she got pardoned by Trump. Just like Hunter Biden's closest comparison would be Jared Kushner + Ivanka, who were admittedly much more closely embedded and involved in Trump's first term. 1
