That jackass hasn't even stepped into office yet and they're already at each others throats. I will say I'm loving the infighting and I hope the "President Musk" narrative continues because we all know it gets under Trump's thin-skin. Hopefully Elon gets deported.

Tbh Trump is right. These donations go into the Democratic Party to fix issues that the people care about, not to put Hollywood on their payroll. Especially when we've seen time and time again - celebrity endorsements do not move the needle.ย

Many of these people have already clarified they were not paid to endorse Kamala or show up at her rallies.

Part of me is hopeful Trump may be a sitting duck with a house majority this slim and there already being infighting.ย
ย

another fun thought I had is in 2028 Vance is going to go into the primary with big tech behind him, but I am interested to see how someone like Nikki Haley could damage him in a debateย

Lol, they are quite obviously lying to save face after they put all their chips behind supporting a massive loser.

ย

Personally I'd be here for Trump putting the pop girls in jail for "campaign finance violations." The meltdowns over ATRL's faves being thrown in prison would be rich :dies:

Yeah, the thing is celebrity endorsements for Democrats are complete nothingburgers because they're honestly expected. Meanwhile celebrity endorsements for Republicans are actually notable and might actually have some extremely marginal chance at moving the needle depending on the celebrity.

ย

The fact that Democrat celebrities are demanding millions of dollars in advance payment before they endorse just goes to show how unserious they are, if they endorse at all, it should be for free. Their concerts at campaign events should also arguably be free. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga getting paid millions to perform in a state that Kamala lost in is actually a massive joke. Beyoncรฉ not even performing at all is even worse. These celebrities are all entitled. Every single one of them.

Beyoncรฉย was not paidย to be there. Not sure how many times that needs to be said.

Honestly - Trump would have won by 400+ if Biden stayed in. Kamala lost decisively but Biden would have been landslided. No doubt.ย

Not sure I believe that. Mega-celebrities like Beyonce never appear anywhere without a financial incentive. They have every reason to lie, especially in light of Kamala's humiliating loss.

ย

But even still, Beyonce being there obviously didn't do anything to help that failure of a campaign win, just like her Hillary concert in 2016 didn't do anything either. The pop girls in general just don't seem have that strong of a pull. That's not a Beyonce problem. It's a cultural problem that's inherent to celebrity culture. They're all (correctly) viewed as out of touch, and so their endorsements are turning out to be political poison.

What they should be looking into is whether celebrity endorsements have any negative consequence. If people aren't swayed by what celebrities think, they also wouldn't be voting against a candidate just because Beyonce or Taylor likes them.

ย

It's probably still a narrow net positive

That's probably a better way of looking at it, yes. A celebrity endorsement might also mean more if the politician being endorsed actually stood for something of value. Celebrity endorsements might have worked more for someone like Bernie if he ever made it to a general election, but that's a hypothetical we will never know the answer to.
ย

The point is, a celebrity endorsement of a status quo politician is expected and shouldn't be expected to be impactful. Taylor Swift breaking her silence in 2018 to endorse against Marsha Blackburn was surprising and maybe slightly moved the needle for Bredesen. In the end, though, he still lost due to the partisan lean of Tennessee. Maybe if the race was closer? Who knows. But because Taylor wasted her political capital on an unwinnable race in 2018, it was therefore not much of a surprise when she endorsed in 2020 and 2024. By then everyone knew where she stood as a liberal entertainer. And frankly, the only surprise and impact her endorsement might've had would have been if she had actually endorsed Trump like some people were (delusionally :lmao:) claiming she might.
ย

The thing about Kamala was that her values shapeshifted constantly depending on what she was even running for. And she was so much the definition of a status quo politician that she couldn't bring herself to differentiate between her own candidacy and Joe Biden's.

She signed on to Medicare For All when she was trying to stand out as "the most liberal Senator," disavowed it the moment she needed healthcare CEOs to endorse her flagging campaign for President in 2019, and thenโ€ฆ backslid on basically everything in 2024 in her bid to run as a Diet Republican. I don't know why this still needs to be said, butโ€ฆ Running as Diet Republicans or Republican-Lites just never works out. People are just gonna want the real thing, and they simply aren't going to trust Democrats to ever be hawkish on the border.
