Yeah this is basically where I’m at. Trump should have been barred from holding office after Jan 6 and the fact that he got away with it completely just goes to show that he suffers no actual consequences for his actions.

Yup I agree with you. I don’t have any hope he will be held accountable.

if he does then I will be happily surprised.

(But I guarantee if it was Obama who did it shew the republicans/FBI would have him in jail in a heartbeat.)

Donald Trump: *says he wants to help poor people and the working class*

Donald Trump: *doesn't do any  of that*

You: "HOW CAN PEOPLE BE SO BLIND TO HIS LIES? AMERICAN POLITICS IS DUMB!"'

Nancy Pelosi: *says she  would love a single-payer system /but that such simply isn't possible/*

Nancy Pelosi: *doesn't do any  of that*

You: "Excuse me, did you not HEAR what she said?"

John Conyers' original single-payer bill, 2003:

:oh:

At one point you just gotta leave the discussion to the adults in the room, sis.

So you’re into theatrical political, wbk

Cause literally no one (especially not Bernie) has done anything to bring us closer to single payer than the person responsible for capping health insurance profits, removing ceilings on care coverage, and eliminating pre-existing conditions. :gaycat:

Making post after post worshiping Pelosi is every bit as weird as maga people constantly praising Trump

Politicians are politicians, they aren't idols

Why do you say that?

Did Trump save the global economy? Reduce USA CO2 emissions? Raise the minimum wage? Expand US healthcare?

Or did he just cut taxes for the rich?

How exactly are Trump and Pelosi comparable? Be specific. :allears: In reality, hating Pelosi is actually much weirder than posts worshiping her.

Pelosi, like most of the rest of the Democrats, do not want a healthcare system that's any better than Obamacare at this point. They're too protective of Obama's ego and legacy and doing anything that would improve upon our ghastly, disastrous healthcare would be the worst possible insult to Obama.

That's why she voted against it in 2003, and why she doesn't even support it being voted on in her own home state of California, which is run by a permanent Democratic supermajority and trifecta that doesn't want to even hold a vote on a single payer healthcare system due to Newsom and the state legislature being bought and paid for by the health insurance lobby and Big Pharma lol

It’s more likely that the far left is being protective of Bernie’s ego by marrying themselves to Medicare For All despite the lack of appetite among the overwhelming majority of Americans to radically overhaul their healthcare system. :gaycat:

Idk maybe I’m too dumb, so you answer this question. What makes sense to you: expanding coverage out from pre-existing infrastructure or attempting to overhaul 20% of US GDP with a 50-50 Senate?

The Democrats THEMSELVES tell their voters that M4A is a bad thing and we should stick to Obamacare, which is objectively a garbage system and the Dems have zero drive or desire to improve upon. Protecting Obama's disaster of a legacy is most important, so that's what they're going to do until the Republicans finally get a majority wide enough that they can repeal it without any sort of replacement. Which, hey, it's still doubtful Joe gets re-elected in 2024 and both houses of Congress are probably gonna get wiped out over the next two cycles, so... it might just happen in 2025. Hey, if it happens though, then good riddance to bad trash, and hopefully the Dems can get back in power to set up something better in 2032, cause people will be thrown to the wolves with no healthcare at all for years under that scenario so maybe then they'll be more open to the drastic overhaul we desperately need! :gaycat4:

Also, sorry, luv u Espresso, but DeSantis isn’t beating anybody. :heart2:

All the DeSantis hype is reminiscent of the media slabber over every Republican hopeful with a slick marketing image and background (Cruz, Rubio, Walker, Perry, Christie, the Pauls, etc) and then anointing them as a POTUS in waiting.

Not only does he not have the range, he’s also not even gone threw the VETTING process. Most people assessing his candidacy are indubitably doing so from a rose colored perspective that doesn’t include any potential oppo on him. And even without that, he’s still trails Biden and a few other Dem hopeful in the polls.

The truth of the matter is a lot of liberals think DeSantis is a huge threat because the press thinks he’s strong and liberals are way too trusting of the press (at least according to Pew Research). I’m here to break that illusion and remind y’all that the mainstream media is a pro bono RNC comms operation. The only reason they prop up DeSantis is as their fallback option in 2024 in case Mister Trump doesn't/or can’t run again. :gaynetcat2:

And, as a last resort, if you don’t believe my rants against the media or think their coverage of Desantis isn’t overhyped, consider that DeSantis won’t be entering a presidential run with nine figures (that’s $1,000,000,000+) of personal brand equity built up over decades.

If somehow we believe that he can overcome a household name like Biden without that, then the next logical conclusion is that he’s a more talented politician than ******* Barack Obama. :chick2:

Well, Obama got outplayed by Joe Lieberman, so clearly he's not THAT talented

I’m sorry but like you’ve been pretty much wrong about everything. :jonny2:

I’d get into with you more, but time is the ultimate truth teller. And I’d rather fire up OF for the rest of my night tonight. :gaycat6:

Hmm. Ok. Let me make it even easier: what’s Pelosi’s cult’s name?

We know about the Bernie Bros, the MAGA/Trumpers, the KHive, etc. So since you know something about a cult that no one else knows exist, maybe you can fill us in on what they’re called. :chick2:

Posted

In reality, there’s nothing close resembling a “cult” around Pelosi. :toofunny3: Mostly she does her job really well and people either ignore it (the left) or demonize it (the right).

My posts simply highlight her existing efforts and long record of achievement. There’s nothing “wrong” in there because it’s all fact based. Everything I’ve said about her is backed by some hard number or outcome that can be traced.

The people you’re referring to, who do have cults, are largely left wing (Bernie) and right wing (Trump) populists. That is, mediocre white men who run cults of personality centered around elevating straight white men & whiny grievance. They favor rallies and performative stunts over substantive debate and legislation. And, as a result, vast swathes of their supporters have no baseline beliefs except that their cult leader is good and everything he does and wants is good, and everyone that opposes him is literally evil.

Kassi, The people who like Bernie like Bernie's policies, they do not view him as a demi-god or infallible.

90% of your posts in this thread are 'look at this thing Pelosi did isn't she the most amazing human in history of all-time ever and also btw Bernie is bad!!' It's very strange and often seems like trolling.

Anyways, back to discussing matters of the day...

Well 90% of every OTHER post are “look at this bad thing Pelosi/Dems did they’re the most awful humans in history and btw Bernie is such a legend!”

If you don’t find that weird, then all you’re doing is exposing your bias, i.e. that you think it’s cool and well to hate Democrats, but bad to praise them.

Also, why can’t people like Pelosi for Pelosi’s policies? Unlike Bernie, at least there’s a record to show for it:

spacer.png

Your entire line of critique boils down to: “It’s very strange to like Dems, it’s very normal to hate them. So you must be trolling.”

It’s such a slanted assessment, I don’t know what you want me to do with it. :chick1: If you can understand why people like Bernie for giving fiery speeches, then you can understand why people like Pelosi for free vaccines during the pandemic.

Wym? She tried and failed. Then moved on with a new approach.

Pelosi and Hillary put a single payer health care bill in front of Congress in the early 90s and said it was all or nothing. Republicans said "nothing" and that's what we had for decades until the ACA.

Similarly, using a MUCH more recent example, Bernie put BBB in front of Manchin and said it was all or nothing. Manchin said “nothing” and that’s all we had for months until the IRA.

In the former case, millions more people got access to healthcare. In the latter case, the US made historic investment in climate.

Why do you hate progress in the pursuit of the perfect?
