Anyone know why JB Pritzker is being talked about as a presidential candidate for 2024 and how bad (or good) is he for the progressive moment?

Pritzker is only being talked about because he had an emotional response to the July 4 shooting that happened in his state while Biden's response was a wishy-washy, empty "we need to do something" with Merrick Garland level engagement and energy. Which is to say, zero.

Biden is literally the most unprepared-for-the-moment president the Democrats could have chosen, except for maybe Kamala, and that's who we're almost guaranteed to be stuck with next anyway. So people are looing around frantically at what other options they could possibly have, but nobody wants to step out in front of an incumbent because that would be career-killing.

As the governor of my state, he's been a very good somewhat progressive governor. Gets a lot of stuff done especially with social issues. I don't think he will run in 2024 but he's a definite potential candidate in the future (2028 or 2032).

Move to Washington state. We're trying to get universal health care on the ballot.

The rest of America (other than Libby, Montana) shook

Newsom being a pathological liar regarding universal healthcare in California tho, I would NEVER vote for him for president

Imagine how corrupt you must be to vote against a bill that would save money AND provide quality Healthcare, yikes :deadbanana:

and I really don't want to support a billionaire for president (but I guess Tom "I just wanna say hi" Steyer would be the least bad one :gaycat6:)

Voting no to bring manufacturing jobs to middle America? Whoever that lone senator is who voted no, he’s so out of touch with the working class. :rip:

I despise 538 and recall well their multiple meltdowns but feel obligated to post this here which is apparently a recent projection change:

Probably one of the few things I’ll ever agree with Axelrod about. Democrats are absolutely shameless trash for this

The notion the CHIPS act is supposed to bring "Middle America" (an abused and twisted trope of a term at this point) jobs as opposed to being a mirage of a boondoogle of a windfall for military contractors and/or conglomerate stock buybacks just strikes me as absurd.

The utility of protest votes has been beaten to death here so I don't have the energy to revisit it but I can't openly scorn it at this point. Not like I used to. Not when so many are hurting, I can't. Bernie aside.

Wonder what the “Trump is so winning in 2024!” girls are thinking right now. :chick2:

Been trying to tell them, but no one listens to me (the most right person in this thread). :duck:

Even Axelrod and CNN are like "ENOUGH!"

I mean, part of the package is subsidies for constructing fabs and job training. A lot of free money can definitely end up in stock buyback schemes, but incentivized dollars do just that: incentivize builders to build here.

We see it on a micro scale (well still macro, but let’s say state level) with state incentives aimed at attracting existing companies and/or propping up new industries.

But yes, it is more broadly true that the Senator in question is out of touch with the working class. I just needed an example to harp on that point. :fan:

The notion of being non-binary is such gaslighting when he's still defending his brother.

NewsNation needs growth and ratings, that's all there is to it.

There goes NewsNation's self-proclaimed "impartial" credentials they kept marketing.

His signature squint (or as this guy called it, "abnormally small eyes" :skull:)

Biden’s eyes are squinty because he has “hunter eyes”. They’re the kind of eyes usually reserved for hot guys…

… which Biden was at one point in his youth. Unlike some other Senator, who’s always been ugly throughout every stage of development.

Also the facelift has made Biden’s eyes even squintier over time (think Ariana Grande). But I love what it’s done for his skin. :gaycat:

The way this photo affirms that this man in 2021 would have been at the capital on January 6th.

Anyway, apart from Biden having been a HOT youth (and the other one always been ugly), his squinty eyes were on full display during that speech.

He just raised his eyes for emphasis on several lines.

V weird to be going off the deep end with conspiracies about deep fakes and body doubles (like during the primaries). The left lowkey attracts a bunch of loons. :gaycat6:

How when he would have been in my bed that morning?
