2024 US Election Megathread 🇺🇸🏛️

Message added by Lee!!,

It was decided based on feedback from the spring 2023 town hall to transition this thread back to being election specific. With the Civics section being able to house specific threads on many issues, we think having a generalized politics thread is not completely necessarily anymore.

With that said, please continue to be respectful and remember that you do not always need to respond to everyone.

We've had "Sleepy Joe" in debates for 5 years, and he's still president right now.

What I don't understand about the "I'm going to complain about Biden 47 times a day and not do anything constructive to make sure Trump doesn't win" crowd is why they keep bringing up age when the smoking gun of Trump being a pedo and rapist is right there.

There's being sleepy and then there's calling yourself the first black woman to serve with a black president. And we're complaining because we want Trump to lose and we're being gaslit to accept a candidate who can't win

No.

Some of us weren't sucking on their mama's titties in 2016 when the same thing happened with Hilary and led to Trump being elected in the first place.

I voted for Hillary in the general election in 2016. I'm writing in someone else this November.

Shaming isn't working.

Let's start with what actually works.

It's still not working.

And yet you're still resorting to it.

Let's start with the (tens of?) millions that don't vote at all and never have? That's a problem, right? How do you intend on getting them to vote for Biden?

Have you worked for campaigns? Degree in poli-sci? Fought with family on the issues? Maybe worked on the Hill or for an issue oriented non profit? Outside this pop culture board I'll bite, since I'm curious, for now.

I doubt this will be productive but let's try.

Great. Then we'll know to blame you by name when the next ultraconservative Surpeme Court is appointed.

You can start with RBG who didn't retire when Obama asked her to.

And you didn't answer my question, which I suspected would happen.

Are you in a swing state?

We have two choices in this election. You're either voting for democracy and the US to continue or you're voting for the downfall of the US with the rise of a dictator.

The orange-red color already admitted it's a traitor (and not the fun Alan Cummings kind) and is voting against the US. Are you as well?

This is such a nonsense point because you're not trying to convince already lifelong dems to vote, you're gonna win by convincing low info independents, and good luck telling them to "shut up and ignore your eyes and ears"

"They're obligated to vote straight party ticket even if the Senators down ballot polling double-digits ahead of him have genuine policy disagreements, we can work out those differences later and you just think he sounds old"

*Data shows the Dem base isn't voting on vibes or age but the moderates are but the latter's too hard to reach so I'll just blame the former*

"It's YOUR FAULT democracy will die!"

Spin it however you need to to justify your actions, but my point remains the fundamental truth.

Team Biden doesn't want to spend the energy or um…change their positions… so they're casting the base as being ageist and treating the moderates and independents with kid gloves.

When it's the moderates and independents that are voting on vibes and age.

I'm so tired of the gaslighting :deadbanana:

I'm tired of traitors spending their entire days posting nonstop negative things about the Democratic nominee as if another candidate will magically appear and instantly beat Donald Trump just because their name isn't Biden. Half the country (or more at this point) is salivating to vote for this rapist, and ya'll just wanna talk about someone's age again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. And again.

your first mistake is the arrogance to say that you hold the "fundamental truth"

you are not fooling anyone, maybe tone down the gaslighting a little

Why is half the country "salivating to vote for the rapist" (that core support is more like 30% but the rest ignoring he's a felon because their policies getting enacted is more important)?

Why isn't your blame going first to those who never vote at all for anyone? Is that too hard? Are they too hard to reach? Why can't they be reached?

@ClashAndBurn I mean?

The ex Hill-shill or whatever folks here wanna call him whatever and that's fine, but the notion he hadn't gone further left since then on several topics is false. And he wants Biden replaced.

I mean, I'm not really familiar with who that particular person is but... I've genuinely been seeing people talk that way. Just... looking at this very page right now, lol

Pod Save America podcaster. Who was just blamed by Biden as being too "self important" when they raised concerns about Biden's debate performance.

You don't think the fundamental truth is that we have two options to vote in this election: one for democracy and one for a new US?
