Also, that UN statement has always pretty clearly been the case. Protracted stalemate has always been the realistic trajectory of the war as long as Americans/Biden continue to give the Ukrainians false hope.

Everyone in Eastern Europe knows that Navalny is just a smarter Russian politician. The West sees him as the answer to Putin, but in reality, Navalny also believes in a "Greater Russia" and has said a bunch of problematic things about the global order of politics and what Russia's role should be. Does he deserve to be tortured? No. But he is also not the band-aid people unfamiliar with the Russian political playbook think he is.
