That's why I am opposed to Ukraine joining the EU.

Give them a deal like Switzerland but do not give them the power to paralyze Europe decision making.

Zelinski is already showing to be quite the arrogant guy tbh seeing how he banished the German president & gives good points & bad points to the allies on a daily basis.

Rightfully so. German president is delusional and German foreign politics is a large part why is this war even happening.

I was about to get pissed at some of Zelensky's arrogant comments as well but then I remembered that people in his country are murdered and tortured daily.

The mud is going to ensure long convoys of road bound vehicles:

Sending civilian vehicles to Ukraine could lead to more food shortages and other problems that could cause the regions in Russia to hoard stuff for the locals and depriving the rest of the country of supplies.

Socio-economic separatism could begin and bets can be placed on how many regions East of the Ural mountains are going to break away.

Captured military vehicles could be put in civilian use.

The only big wars Russia has won, was when they received money and supplies from the biggest economic power in the world.

On their own, Russian industry can't produce the crucial components, supplies,... in large enough quantities to keep the war effort going. There are bottlenecks, in the past it might be by design (Like when the Americans built factories that could be converted into weapons factories for Stalin and there were bottlenecks everywhere.) or it could be the Russian preference for producing the cool stuff and not caring that much about producing the boring stuff.

Germany is a country that thrives on small and medium enterprises being good at producing the most boring stuff. It produces the stuff that goes into things or the machines the rest is using for producing their things. In Russia the production of cars, tanks, missiles,... have stopped because of the sanctions.

Ukraine's security problems resembles that of Israel back when conventional armies invaded it from all sides and wanted to push the people into the sea. Ukrainians are fighting as fiercely, creatively and effectively as Israelis. Helping Ukraine to win this war is ensuring a strong ally in Eastern Europe that keeps the Russians out.

This didn't work at the start of the war, this didn't work in Japan in 1940, and it didn't work in Germany in 1940. Why would this work now?

I hope they manage to resist. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through in the SE

Anyway, congrats to Lithuania which used to import 100% of their gas from Russia.
