Johnny Jacobs Posted September 29 Posted September 29 The first omen 7/10. The ending was meh. Overall decent watch. Twisters 6/10. Decent watch. Not wowed. Predictable. Beetlejuice 1988 5/10. I expected more but it was not really good. Don't clock me.
Memoirs387 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 33 minutes ago, Radical Pessimism said: Never Let Go - 7/10 I liked it. The ending is confusing, though. Halle is convincing as a protective mother as always and the kids are good, too. Also, excellent jump scares. Spoiler Wait I liked it and was confused too. Like was the evil real AND people still existed? I got a bit confused at the end lol
Album Leak Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Getting through some of my movie backlog, and I've watched the following the past 3 days. Get Over It (2001) - 3/10 I thought the lead actor and the main love interest had good enough vibes for a dumb teen movie, but everything else was crap. What bothers me is that this is a movie mainly about high school musical theater... and there is not ONE homosexual character in the cast. They even lament that '' oh musical theater is so gay '' like..? Even the sort of ***y teacher ended up having a wife? Like I know it's the early 2000s but come on, it was so not believable. Were the kids doing musical theater in early 2000s like, jocks and popular kids and like weird stoner bros? Such an odd freaking choice to use such a setting for your teen movie, because the basic premise just boils down to '' my ex-girlfriend has a new bf and they are doing theater now, so I must show how much I love her by also doing theater '' like you could put anything else there instead of musical theater? Anyway, it was garbage. Kirsten Dunst was pretty, good for her. Sugar & Spice (2001) - 6/10 Honestly, it ended up being a bit funnier than I expected. I think the absurdity of the entire plot and the characters really work out really well, and it doesn't feel incredibly formulaic and done before. The cast was funny, and despite the subject matter, I was happy how light they kept it throughout the movie despite them being able to dabble much further into dark comedy. I just generally enjoy when pretty, popular high school girls are portrayed as more than just vapid and thoroughly judgmental, but also quirky, smart and capable people who aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty. Enjoyed this one, might revisit it from time to time. The one thing that really frustrated me though was the ending, as I was expecting something much more. Mars Attacks! (1996) - 3/10 I was expecting something much, much, MUCH funnier. But it really wasn't. Honestly, it was kind of gross and boring. The only reason I'm giving it any stars was because of the scene with the Martian dressed up as a human woman. She was so cunty! But even that scene ended up being pretty lame in the end. Whatever. Get a Clue (2002) - 2/10 I'm sorry Lindsay, I like Parent Trap and love Freaky Friday, but this one was so boring. I still enjoy watching new kids and family films so it's not about that, this one was just.. what? Who cares? Nothing was funny, the characters sucked, it was all just stupid. Baby Boom (1987) - 2/10 I feel like First Wives Club was Diane Keaton's revenge for this horrid ass movie. I hate this type of '' successful, driven business woman learns to slow down and value other things in life, like family '' movies. Utterly disgusting. Diane Keaton is an icon though, and still delivers a good performance even in this wack ass movie. The War of the Roses (1989) - 9/10 This movie was so beautiful and such a good time. I did not expect that it'd end up being such a ridiculously engaging dark comedy just from reading the description of the movie. When the description said '' vicious divorce battle '' oh it was, it was! With this and Serial Mom under her belt, Kathleen Turner is kind of a dark comedy queen. AND KATHLEEN TURNER. SHE IS MOTHER! She was breathtaking in this movie, just so sublime. Michael Douglas was kind of a snack... and I always had a thing for Danny DeVito for some reason. I'm also surprised that Danny DeVito didn't play another slimy scumbag in this movie, no, he was downright pleasant and wholesome in the end! The ending... let me just say I wasn't expecting that from a movie from the late 80s, and it kinda caught me offguard. In a good way though. Edited October 4 by Album Leak
DoctorIce Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Speak No Evil (2024) - 8/10 Whew, you don't get films this genuinely suspenseful very often. I squirmed throughout. 1
Rihinvention Posted October 12 Posted October 12 (edited) I'm currently watching Nightcrawler for the first time and I feel like I need to talk to someone about the emotions I'm currently experiencing, because I can…not…finish it. I swear I'm pausing it every 20 seconds because the suspense is causing my anxiety to skyrocket in ways no other film ever has. I almost wish I was in a movie theatre so I didn't have the option of pausing it. i love thrillers and I love suspense, but this is almost too much. I can feel my heart thumping out of my chest. As a Taylor fan, I know I'm supposed to hate Jake Gyllenhaal, but I can't. He knows how to choose a good project/script. His filmography is incredible. I know it's way too early to depict The Idaho Murders (and would be insanely insensitive to do so) but holy ****…with a nose prosthetic and a wig, I could definitely see him playing Bryan Kohberger. Dämon Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Ready or Not - 3.5/5 I liked the beginning, liked the ending, the middle part kinda bored me though. The Outrun - 3.5/5 Movie is a all right. Saoirse Ronan is incredible. Blind Date - 3/5 An old movie. Humor is a bit too much, but entertaining nevertheless.
Rihinvention Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I'm like 20 minutes into Enemy (2013) and I swear to God, if they end up being the same person, I am going to be SO pissed off. That is so, so predictable. Maybe pre-Fight Club, it would have blown people's minds…but if that's a "plot twist" in this movie, I'm going to let out the biggest groan. I still have to finish it though, so I'm getting ahead of myself lmao

All I'm finding is that "the spider represents commitment." But were they the same person or not? Why did the mother know about his acting jobs? If it's the same person, why didn't he die in the car crash? I feel like I'm left with more questions than answers, which is even more annoying than if it was just, "sUrPrIsE! hE HaS DisAsSoCiAtiVe iDeNTiTy DiSoRdEr!"
Rose Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I watched Arlington Road and liked it a lot, especially the ending. I just love 90s thrillers.

Mellark Posted Sunday at 04:44 AM Posted Sunday at 04:44 AM I went to see 'A Real Pain', the movie starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin and I enjoyed it. It was very interesting. It doesn't play nationwide until the 15th, but there were some showings in my area already.
