SupremeGoddess Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 the killer by david fincher. hard to believe such a great director manage to make one of the most boring, painfully by the numbers thriller could hardly go through michael fassbenders TERRIBLE voice acting
Poxy Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Enjoyed Sean Baker’s “Starlet” and “Red Rocket.” The best part of those 2 films is that the main characters don’t really learn the lesson the audience thinks they should learn. They just move on. Though it doesn’t feel satisfying, I appreciate it for the realness it provides. Not everyone learns their lesson, nor want to.
EdgeofTeeth Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 GoodFellas (9/10) Stand by Me (8/10) My Own Private Idaho (7/10) Priscilla (8/10) – Loved this one a lot and I want to see it again. I can recognize it's not a perfect film tho. The Killer (6.5/10) – Not as bad as some are saying, but I do agree that it's not up to Fincher's standard.
Bacardo Royale Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 The Color Purple - 8/10 Really moving story was especially blown away by Oprah's performance, I feel like she was even better than Whoopi.

Note perfect performances, remarkably sharp script, and thoughtful observations on generational divides and parenthood. I’m heavily bias toward it though, being from New England and having gone to a boarding school myself. It definitely wouldn’t appeal to everyone, but it’s probably my favorite film of the year 1
M.R. Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Seeing Poor Things this Sunday. And then on Monday I bought tickets for Wim Wenders‘ Perfect Days.
Poxy Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Suzhou River… that was a classic, that was a classic!
John Slayne Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 I saw Saltburn in cinema a couple days ago. highly recommend, it was brilliant! Rosamund Pike ate in her supporting role, she was having wayyy too much fun though lmao
McNulty Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) Scrapper (3/5): Simple story with great building at the start but the story felt underwhelming at the end, good performance from the leads The Teachers' Lounge (3.5/5): Amazing performance by Leonie Benesch with great tension building throughout the movie, my only problem was that I didn't know what the director wanted to tell at the end Edited November 27, 2023 by McNulty
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted November 29, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted November 29, 2023 Recent watches: The Marvels, Hunger Games BSSB, The Holdovers, Saltburn, and The Burial. Up next is Rustin and May December. I was planning on seeing Napoleon in theaters but after the lukewarm reactions, I think I'll just wait to stream it on Apple TV. Still really want to see Anatomy of a Fall and Priscilla but I think I missed any opportunity to see them in theaters. So many anticipated movies coming out in December! I'm stoked!
FlyOnTheWall Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Just watched Wish, which was absolutely lovely and gonna watch Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Saturday after finishing the novel yesterday 1
poki Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Rewatched How To Train Your Dragon 2. Gosh this movie really left an impact on me back then, can't believe it's been almost 10 years. Life went too dark since then for me but nowadays it's one of those "me from the past loved it, so I respect that" moments.
Anthinos Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I saw "The Girl with All the Gifts" yesterday and it was so good. I found the ending a little depressing. I recommend the movie to anyone who likes zombie movies. "Enter the Void" was meh. Nice visuals but very boring.
flower moon Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Leave the World Behind - i loved the post-apocalyptic vibes and tension...but the ending came out of nowhere and was like a comedic ending i
