Can somebody help me? I ordered Michael Jackson Thriller 40 LP from his store (Sony Music store). It will be released in november. They took money off of my credit card for that, now today (after 15 days) money is back on my card, and now they say to me that my card will be charged in november, because it is preorder and my order is on. Is that how it works?

yes! some stores only charge an authorization for the amount of the purchase - that's why you're seeing the money back in your account/refunded.

you will be charged again once the order ships. some stores charge upfront, some charge when the order is dispatched, and I think if you pay through PayPal they take the money right away too.

Yeah, so what you experienced is a pre-authorization charge. Basically a temporary charge that happens when you pay with credit/ debit.

They temporarily charge you when the order is placed to make sure you have the funds, the charge then goes away after like a week or so, and then when the order is ready to be shipped you'll be charged the final amount. Just make sure when the release date comes around, you have enough funds in your account for the final charge, or they may cancel your order.

I usually only experience this when pre-ordering from European sites, but it's best to check the site's terms and conditions for more information- typically under the 'Orders' section.

Ok I'm pissed and I need some advice.

I ordered Hilary Duff's Selftitled vinyl from Urban Outfitters earlier this year. The vinyl arrived but the box it came in was damaged. There was literally a whole tear in the box.

The packaging inside was also damaged with a tear on one side. And now the vinyl sleeve has this very noticeable dent. See the pictures below:

What do I do now? I think this is unacceptable as I've paid over 80 dollars (!!!) for this vinyl, including shipping.

Should I ask for a replacement? And if so, do I mention the box it shipped in being damaged? Or just the vinyl itself arriving damaged? And should I return this copy?

Any help is appreciated.

Definitely file a ticket and include the pictures, every time I've done so I've either been sent a replacement no questions asked or a full refund! I'm sorry this happened for you, so freaking annoying

Oh no, this is terrible. I’m so sorry that this happened to you. Now I’m scared. My copy will arrive in 2, 3 days and it’s my first order from UB (first vinyl in general)..

if you ask for a replacement they will ask you to RETURN the item! and cover the shipping expenses. ask for a refund of the shipping fees first, telling them your order hasn't arrived. do not pay for it, I wouldn't.

I thought there were? Either that or the hype sticker was misleading. I remember UO making it seem like it was on the record.

Instant cop for TONY alone. Butttt that shipping is a no. Hope it pops up somewhere else more reasonably. If not, I’ll get this.

edit: ordered.

Based on the photos, there are 2LPs, as shady as it sounds my guess is that the bonus side is 1LP with one song. Matthew had to make the price make sense cents.

Don’t remind me :oxygen2: I still can’t believe UO played us like that.

If Shawn were a real bad ***** tho, he’d repress Wonder (with Monster) and MTV Unplugged :eli: I need that to complete my collection (well Señorita, Handwritten and the IICHY 7” singles, but I have the latter on CD!) :cm:

:biblionny: I would include those exact photos and just request a replacement, but do it ASAP! They’ll more than likely just ask that you send the damaged one back.

The way I selfishly need him to NOT repress MTV Unplugged after I spent a crap ton on a sealed copy early this year :spin:

For those of you who recently got your Sweetener copies, how long did it take for it to arrive? Mine shipped out on the 19th and I'm still waiting. I picked standard shipping and live in the US.

I am thinking of ordering Mabel's new album, but I am overthinking it.

Within 10-11 business days (which was as advertised on their site) and that happened with both copies. However, my copy of Nicki’s Queen still hasn’t arrived and it shipped out the same day as my second copy of Sweetener :emofish:

Thanks for the advice guys. It's well appreciated. I'm definitely going to contact them and send them the photos. Would you say it's best to contact Urban Outfitters about this matter via the chat on their website or social media?
