NewJeans are going to be the 3rd Kpop group to actually make big waves globally after BTS and BP i can feel it.

Hanni will be the next Jennie I fear :jonny5:

yeah I feel the same. NewJennies have everything to be huge :coffee2:

I feel they will be the real winners in the long run :coffee2:

But I do hope we don’t get anymore Obsession (song), but that’s seems to be leading to impossible with the state of SMs music these past few years, I’m actually worried :biblio:

I used to be an smsheep but I have to agree after the NCT mess the company lost their touch and the music is not that appealing to me :ducky:

meanwhile Hybe is making everything to release good music :jonny5:

ppl need to stop pretending aespa didnt colossally flop this year. four new groups legit outdid them all WW on spotify in a few months without stepping foot in the US.

2 of the groups are affiliated with scooter Braun and another is from sajaegiship. :bibliahh:

they lost their momentum and girls/ lifes too short stained their brand and hurt their goodwill as hitmakers to noisemakers.

On release Girls was the highest selling kpop gg album ever. Life’s Too Short wasn’t noise, it was too tame. :deadbanana4:

coachella and their US activities and all the fraud media play that came w it were cringe as hell and didnt prove anything to the public

Coachella was filmed poorly and the fancam(and the experience of me and everybody else there for them) were infinitely better, there was 0 media play around them here, just honest promo. Fraud media play would be something like claiming to the us press to be the biggest kpop group when you don’t crack the top 5 in sales and barely are in the top 3 for girl groups and only then if you don’t include solos.

doing them more harm than good, along w giselles constant screwups.

Giselle at her worst is a better vocalist than 3/4 bp and 6-7/9 twice and still putting in more effort with dancing than a lot.

but congratz on selling in a time when even nugus can clear a million w ease i guess.. they had no impact this year.

The “nugus” in question being some of the most hotly anticipated debuts of all time. Aespa almost doubled with 1.8m physicals for girls. they’re in the top 5 for physicals AND digitals in a year where they only got a mini album and were trapped in the US doing concerts to keep the lights on at SM. :bibliahh:

the korean gp is not shaking for an aespa comeback the way they are for newjeans ive or lsfrm.

This is factually untrue according to performance views and catalog streams.

This thread lives in an alternate reality I s2g y’all can write whole essays where every line is the opposite of what’s actually happening

People need to understand that the competition is simply stiff among ggs this gen. There was a time when ITZY was the defining 4th gen gg, then aespa came and smashed with Next Level. And then IVE and GIDLE took the crown from them, and now NewJennies are threatening that title with LSRFM trailing behind. So y’all can stop being offended when someone says so and so flopped this year. It’s only natural when you have so many groups competing with each other and doing well.

What’s funny is that the people who are supporting Aespa and claiming they didn’t flop are the only ones posting numbers. For example, you claimed (G)-IDLE took the crown from Aespa but they only did better on Spotify. You girls can’t be mad at us for posting stats when you’re not posting objective facts.

Garam has no chance of debuting

knetz still dislike her and if the company doesn't want to su!cide their group and the success they would rather not be associated with any scandal members, same goes for Soojin

Jinni on the other hand... she can be the next Hyuna if she wants to, I hope she won't give up on idol career because whew :jonny5:

This.

ITZY NMIXX are all in that same boat (boat of noise).

Aespa's KWANGYA crap is just pretentious the West will hate it.

IVE has way too much baggage with Wonyoung and friends, Starship is a **** label too.

LE SSERAFIM is the group to watch against NewJeans though, theyre all across the board just as if not better performers than NJ and their music is just as western friendly but the lack of plenty of English speakers will definitely hinder them whilst everyone in NewJeans basically speaks it with 3 of them being fluent.

YGNGG could be the threat to NJ tho.

The way you’re doing backflips to twist my words :rip: I’m talking about them having smashes this year, and Tomboy was bigger than anything aespa released this year, or was it not? Did I ever deny aespa’s album sales? No. But did they decline digitally compared to Next Level and Savage? Yes they did. Did the other groups (including Gidle) have bigger smashes than them? Yes they did. Why are you so mad at THAT fact? :rip: You posting CUMULATIVE numbers ain’t gonna change what I’m saying.
Chill, go back and read my post again so you can realize it’s not that serious and I’m not out to GET aespa like the sheep usually believe. :rip:

Also P.S., Spotify is a huge and valid platform and those numbers matter as much as the physical sales, maybe even more. I wished you would stop downplaying that.

Third biggest 4th Gen GG so far.

I’m in the process of updating the thread.

Aespa - 845M (+1.28M daily)

IVE - 591M (+2M daily)

NewJeans - 405M (+5.2M daily)

aespa didn't flop

they had record-breaking success in certain metrics

in general, they did underperform tho

and their coachella appearance was in no way honest promo lol

this. SM media playing it as if they were invited by coachella themselves a la blackpink and not 88rising fitting them into their slot :toofunny3: plus making it sound bigger "first kpop artist to be on the main stage" :ahh:

They took the spot of 2NE1 the previous week, one of the most legendary girl groups of all time and were invited into that time slot.

They were the first kpop group invited on to Coachella’s main stage.

These are both concrete facts.

Having a one-off hit doesn’t make you bigger. I’m an IDLE stan but we spent the year praying the girls would get their first Platinum album, sis. I’m very proud of them for getting 1.3B digitals, but that’s about 215M streams, or 143k album sales. Watching them go from struggling to hit 250k on their studio album to hitting 800k+ with a mini was way more rewarding than seeing TOMBOY and MY BAG smash - their 1B digital points weren’t even enough to turn a profit. This would be like arguing that MOMOLAND was a top group when Bboom Bboom smashed or that OMG was the top group when Dolphin/NonStop smashed.

Aespa had the third biggest year on Spotify, sis. The ranking went IDLE then ITZY then Aespa then IVE then LE SSERAFIM then NewJeans. I included them in my overall equivalents. The thing is Spotify isn’t that huge yet for these groups that it’s making a massive difference when they’re all pulling 1M+ with every physical.
